James Clifford (Cliff) Motes

March 7, 1946 - August 3, 2022

JAMES CLIFFORD (CLIFF) MOTES, age 76, passed away on Wednesday, August 3, 2022, in Ripley, Tennessee. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alex C. and Amy L.E. Motes, and son, Craig P. Motes. Cliff is survived by his sister, Sally Rowse, daughter and son-in-law, Dana and Tim Doney, six (6) grandchildren, and ten (10) great-grandchildren.

Cliff was born in Pasadena, CA on March 7, 1946. He grew up in the Seattle area prior to moving to Central Point, OR where he attended Crater High School his senior year, graduating in 1964.

In 1966, Cliff entered the banking program at First National Bank in Medford. He later worked for other banks in Beaverton, Rogue River, and Oregon City where he was bank manager.

In the mid-1970's, Cliff obtained his real estate license, working in Rogue River and then later in the Medford area. He additionally acquired his contractor's license when he began real estate development in southern Oregon. In the late 1980's, Cliff opened Landmark Title Co. located in Medford. In the early 1980's Cliff owned an auto parts store and machine shop in Enterprise/Joseph, OR.

Having a lifelong gift for playing the piano, Cliff played for several churches in both the Rogue Valley and Wallowa County areas. He additionally became a piano tuner. Cliff's most recent hobby was the repair and restoration of old bicycles. He was also talented with restoring old cars, gardening, and photography.

A private service will be held, with burial to follow in Siskiyou Memorial Park in Medford, Oregon.
