Mildred McKay Obituary

Mildred Ruth McKay
Mildred McKay, 77, went home to be with her Lord on Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2008, after a long battle with Alzheimer's. She was born along with her twin sister, Virginia, on Aug. 26, 1931, in Hornell, N.Y., to Reverend Howard and Adele Green. At nine years old, she moved to Newfane, N.Y., and at 14, to Laconia, N.H. In the middle of her senior year in high school, her dad had a heart attack and the family moved to California. They arrived April 1, 1949, where she finished her senior year, and graduated from Puente High School. She took a job in Pasadena at the General Motors Acceptance Company to help support her family. She attended Calvary Baptist Church in Puente, where she met Roger McKay, and while they dated Mildred attended Biola in Los Angeles. On June 5, 1953, Mildred and Roger married, and happily added three children to the family over the next several years; Ron, Karen and Don. In May of 1962, the family moved to Williams, Ore., where Roger was a rancher for five years. In 1967, Roger became the pastor of Williams Community Church, serving there for 35 years, along with Mildred, who acted as church secretary and pianist. In May of 2002, Mildred and Roger moved to Ruch, Ore., to live in a house they had purchased next to her son, Ron, where she resided until her death.
Mildred was preceded in death by her twin sister, Virginia; brother, Paul; and two grandchildren. She is survived by her loving husband, Roger; children, Ron, Karen and Don; seven grandchildren; brother, Howard; and sister, Dorothy.
There will be a private graveside service at Sparlin Cemetery in Williams, Ore. A Memorial service is planned for 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 25, 2008, at Ruch Community Bible Church, 190 Upper Applegate Rd., Jacksonville, Ore., 97530. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Mildred's name to Ruch Community Bible Church.
