Paul Holte
Paul Obert Holte, 79, of Eagle Point, Ore., died Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2008, at his home.
Paul was born in Ada, Minn., on Oct. 18, 1928, to Obert and Elymra Holte. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Air Force. After he was honorably discharged, he married Margaret Ann Brown. The couple then moved to Southern California where he worked as a horse trainer & Ferrier. Horses were his life and he loved taking his horses to show. He wrote a book "Soft Landings" on how to train horses and gave a copy to his friends and family, although it was never published. Paul loved the outdoors and hunting with his boys. In the early 60s, the couple and their nine children moved to Oregon. Margaret passed away in 1989.
One evening, while at a dance, Paul met Beverly Dias. They later married in 1991. They made their home in Phoenix, Oregon before retiring in 1998.
He is survived by his wife, Beverly; his nine children, Ann Holte, Steve Holte, Mary Payant, Theresa Holte, Chris Holte, Paula Holte, John Holte, Catherine Holte and Monica Holte; two stepsons, Randy Dias, and wife, Cherrie, and Ron Dias, and wife Janna; sisters, Hope Carlson and Donna Olson; 17 grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2008, at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Shady Cove with interment to follow at 1 p.m. at Eagle Point National Cemetery. There will be a reception at the Eagle Point Grange on Shasta Avenue following interment services.
