Roland Soorus Obituary

Roland George Soorus
Roland George Soorus, 63, of Brookings, died Wednesday, February 14, 2007 at a hospital in Medford of natural causes.

He was born May 4, 1943 in Chicago, Ill. to George Bernard and Helen Marie (Gruber) Soorus.

His first work assignment as a cytotechnologist was at Rogue Valley Medical Center in Medford, Ore.

Survivors include his sister, Virginia Kelly of Atwater, Calif.; cousins Irene Sollano of Douglaston, New York, Paul Gruber of Chicago, Ill., Diane Amati of the Chicago area and numerous other cousins and relatives.

Viewing will be held at 10:00 a.m. with funeral services following at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 19, 2007 at Redwood Memorial Chapel, 1020 Fifield St., Brookings. Dr. Gordon Myrah, Pastor of the Trinity Lutheran Church will be officiating. Private burial will follow at W. J. Ward Memorial Cemetery in Brookings.

Memorial donations may be made to Rogue Valley Medical Center (RVMC) Foundation, Attention: Laboratory, 2600 Siskiyou Blvd., Suite 100, Medford, OR 97504, or to the Arthritis Foundation/Oregon Branch Office, 9700 SW Capitol Hwy, Suite 160, Portland, OR 97219.
