Dad, I love and miss you more than I have words for. I wish you were here my life is so confusing and as much as it drove me nuts I would give anything for you to give me an honest lecture. To give me the confidence to face life head on instead of being swept up and forgotten. Your Tue best father, dad, and friend I could a hoped for . its kills me everyday that I didn't see it for what it was while you were still here. I'm sorry an I love you

On behalf of the United States Submarine Veterans (USSVI), I offer our sincere condolences on Alan's passing. You and your loved ones are in our thoughts and prayers. We are forever grateful for Alan's service to our country in the U.S. Submarine Service. To our Brother of the Phin we say, Sailor, rest your oar. We have the watch. May you rest in peace and may God bless your loved ones who remain. Thank you for your service to our country."
Now may the Lord of peace Himself give you peace always in every way.
2 Thessalonians 3:16.

Lockhart, Alan W., MMC(SS), US Navy, Now on Eternal Patrol. Fair Winds and Following Seas to our departed shipmate.
Alan's record is posted online in the Eternal Patrol file on the USSVI website.

I have one consolation that lives with me today.
That God is near to them, in his own special way.
So God in all Your mercy, keep near Thyself the soul,
Of every Submariner, still on his final patrol.

Lord, this departed shipmate with Dolphins on his chest
is part of an outfit known as the best.
Make him welcome and take him by the hand.
You'll find without a doubt he was the best in all the land.

So, heavenly Father add his name to the roll
of our departed shipmates still on patrol.
Let them know that we who survive
will always keep their memories alive.

Rev. Ray Fritz, Acting National Chaplain United States Submarine Veterans, USSVI.
