Al was a fixture at Maine State Parks and I enjoyed talking with him often as we worked there and went to coffee breaks in the building next door. He and others sometimes had engineering delema's. One stands out, being whether the angle brace on an outhouse door should be from the upper hinge corner to the opposite low corner... or from the opposite corners. (IMHO, it doesn't really matter.)

June & Family,
So sorry to hear of Alvin's passing. I have so many wonderful memories of him and his amazing sense of humor. You both made me feel so welcome when I became your neighbor, many years ago.

Al was a great guy, both in the office and especially on ice fishing trips. In my mind, I can still see him on his snowmobile, zooming across the snowy Moosehead lake in the dark, with his pipe throwing sparks in the air like fireworks as he towed his fishing gear sled back to the camp.

One of my first memories of Al was when he and Norm Manwell and a couple of others were going over a project in Norm's glass-enclosed cubicle on the top floor of the State Office Building in 1965...my first year with State Parks. At least two of them were smoking pipes and there was so much smoke, we could hardly see anyone in there.

So sorry to hear of the passing of a dear co-worker, Alvin Wagner. Al & I worked together on many projects in many State Parks for 28 years. He was always willing to fully explain why various jobs had to be done in a certain way in layman terms. I will miss you my friend, R.I. P. . Joe Forti, retired Reginal Supervisor of State Parks.
