Catherine Bolduc Obituary

WINSLOW -- Catherine A. Bolduc, 67, returned to God the Father on Wednesday Aug. 30, 2006. Her loving and devoted husband of 42 years, Philippe, cared for her throughout her final days. She had been ill since 1982 when she was involved in a very serious accident.

She was born in Waterville on Sept. 20, 1938, the daughter of the late Joseph and Helene (Lebrasseur) Morency.

She graduated from Mount Mereci Academy in 1957 and remained in touch with several of her classmates. She served in the Army Reserves for three years as a sergeant with her husband, Phil.

She was employed by New England Telephone Company as an office clerk for 22 years before retiring in 1982.

She loved nature and all of its creatures. Cathy was an avid gardener. Her gardens were featured in the issue of "Flower and Garden," August 1997.

She was a former member of the Central Maine Garden Club. She was the recipient of several horticulture awards for the entries in the Garden Club Federation of Maine's Flower show at the Colby College Museum of Art in 1992 and again was awarded several horticulture awards and blue ribbons at the National Council of State Garden Club's Flower Show sponsored by the Central Maine Garden Club in June of 1997.

She had been involved in animal rescue since early 1989. She took care of their medical needs and cared for them until a good home could be found. Dr. Alan Slack helped Cathy by taking care of her rescues and also her little furry friends, Daffodil, Charley McCarthy and Tiger Lily. Her little friends will miss her greatly.

Surviving Cathy are her loving husband of 42 years, Philippe M. Bolduc of Winslow; a sister, Constance Paradis of Winslow; a brother, Anthony Morency of Hyattsville, Md.; her sister-in-law, Constance Bolduc of Winslow; sister-in-law Adrianne and husband, Paul Cyr, of Waterville; her brother-in-law, Gerard and wife, Jeanne, of Fairfield; sister-in-law, Geraldine and husband, Donald Quirion, of Waterville; sister-in-law, Pauline and husband, John Roderick, of Sturbridge, Mass.; sister-in-law, Francine Bolduc of Winslow; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her brother, Ernest J. Morency of Winslow; and brother, Edward L. Morency of Waterville.

According to her wishes there will be no visiting hours. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 5, at St. John the Baptist Church in Winslow, with the Rev. Paul Dumais, celebrant.

She wished to thank all the doctors and nurses in the dialysis unit for the many years of excellent care they provided her during her illness.

She was an active member of Voice for Animals, P.O. Box 172, Shawmut, ME 04975, and also the Waterville Area Humane Society; she requests that donations in her memory be mailed to them to help the good work that they do.

My deepest sympathy to you Phil on the loss of your wife. Although I have been away from Waterville for 33 years, I still remember so many people there, and I especially remember the Bolduc family well. If you can't quite place me, I was friendly with Pauline in our younger days, and though we have lived far apart, we have always kept in touch. In reading Kathy's obituary, you have been a caring, faithful husband. You will be rewarded for your compassion.

Dear Phil, How thrilled Cathy must be to be free of pain- to see the beauty of heaven- to be at peace. You were so wonderful and caring, so kind and patient. Cathy also will know be able to have her wish of seeing you able to take care of yourself now and stop worrying. You both cared so much for each other and now your journey continues, along different paths and yet always side by side as the moemories remain. May God Bless and Keep you and may you find the peace that Cathy so wished for you as she has found her peace at last. Our entire family will be keeping you in our thoughts and prayers.

So sorry for your loss. I went to school with Cathy. Even though I live out of state my sister-in-law Marcia Pelletier has kept me informed about Cathy. She was such a kind person and had such a great love of animals. She is certainly resting in peace with the lord.
