She was born in South Portland on March 16, 1931, the daughter of John T. and Grace (Dewar) Conley.
Betty graduated from Cape Elizabeth High School in the class of 1949. Following graduation, she attended flight attendant school and enjoyed a brief career in the airline industry before staying at home to raise her four sons.
After her children were grown, Betty opened a clothing consignment shop. Located in Augusta, many of those who patronized "The Clothes Rack" were not only customers, but became dear friends of Betty's. She operated the shop for nearly 20 years before retiring and spending her remaining years at her home on Highland Avenue in Winthrop.
Betty was predeceased by her three brothers, William, John and James Conley.
She is survived by Robert J. Brooks Sr. of Augusta, and their four sons: Robert J. Brooks Jr. of Yarmouth and his children, Emily Semenchuk and her husband, Trevor, Robert Bennet and his fiancée, Shelly, Annie Brooks and their mother, Susan; Steven Brooks of Augusta and his children, Ryan and Tade Brooks, and their mother, Kelly; John Brooks and his wife, Darlene, of Manchester and their children, Christine Leavitt and her husband, Jake, and Sarah Brooks; and Daniel Brooks of Winthrop and his children, Bennett and Beau Brooks, and their mother, Raina; as well as two great-grandchildren, Juliet and Kyle Semenchuk.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, April 27, at Roberts Funeral Home, 62 Bowdoin St., Winthrop. Betty's life will be celebrated at a memorial graveside service at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 1, at Calvary Cemetery, 1461 Broadway, South Portland.
For those who wish, contributions in Betty's memory may be made to HealthReach Hospice, P.O. Box 828, Waterville, ME 04903-0828.

She wasn't just my grandmother, she was my friend. She was someone I could go to about any problems and she always had a solution. She truly cared about everyone else and was just a genuine person. She has changed my life for the better teaching me to be the best possible person I can be. I can honestly say I have never met such a wonderful person. You will be forever missed Gram and always remember, I love you more!

I feel so blessed to have known Betty and to have spent as much time with her as I did these past 8 months. She has impacted my life so much in the short time that I knew her, and she will never be forgotten. Her smile and laughter could brighten the room and she will truly be missed. I wish I told her more often how much she meant to me, as much as I tried to show it. My condolences to the Brooks family during this difficult time.
