Jason Carpenter Obituary

LEBANON, N.H. - Jason O'Neil Carpenter, 37, of Berlin, N.H., passed away in the early hours of Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2013. He was born in Waterville, Maine, on May 2, 1976.
Jason graduated from Messalonskee High School in 1994 and also attended the University of Maine at Augusta, where he received his associate degree in criminal justice. After joining the Air Force in 1998, Jason was stationed at Vandenberg Air Force Base on the central coast of California, where he met his wife Crystal. Jason and Crystal were married May 12, 2001 at Notre Dame Catholic Church in Waterville, Maine. After his military service, Jason gained employment with the Federal Bureau of Prisons at the maximum security penitentiary in Lompoc, Calif., where he quickly gained the love and respect of many. In April 2012, Jason finally was able to obtain a transfer back to New England to a brand new federal facility in Berlin, N.H.; he was so happy to be coming home to his family once again who were so important to him.
Jason is survived by his loving wife, Crystal Carpenter; his father, O'Neil Carpenter; mother Judith Westman; brothers Timothy Carpenter, James Carpenter and his wife, Danielle, and their children Alicia, Christopher and Abby, Dave Boudreau, and Peter Boudreau and his wife, Jen, and their daughter, Olivia, and sons Alex, Ethan and Lucas; sisters Jacqueline Sweigart and husband Charles Sweigart, Violet White-Carpenter and sons Michael and Joseph Dorval, and Jodi Carpenter-Jones and husband Will Jones, and their daughters, Katie and Amanda Dale, and sons Nathaniel and Alex Jones. He is also survived by nephews Shawn and Bill Carpenter, who he grew up with and were like brothers to him; as well as many aunts and uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews, and his in-laws to whom he was the son they never had. He is also proud to be survived by an entire family of Bureau of Prisons Brothers and Sisters, an organization he was proud to be a part of from the beginning to the end.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Friday, Nov. 15 at Notre Dame Catholic Church on Silver Street in Waterville. Visiting hours will be from noon to 2 and 4 to 6 p.m. Friday, Nov. 15 at Veilleux Funeral Home, 8 Elm St., Waterville. There will be a celebration of Jason's life for friends and family from 1 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 16 at the Fairfield Veterans of Foreign Wars. Committal prayers will take place at 8 a.m. Monday, Nov. 18 at St. Francis Catholic Cemetery in Waterville.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, 1500 Rosecrans Ave., Suite 200, Manhattan Beach, CA 90266; or to a blood donation center at an American Red Cross organization in your area.

Neal and Judy and family: I can't find the right words to say how sorry I am about losing your Jason. It seems like yesterday we were out to camp and he was just a teenager. I wish I could have been there today, but my thoughts and prayers are with you all during this difficult time.

I remember when I met Jason for the first time on (security) flight, he had a huge wad of chew, (RedMan chew) in his lip. We were all posted at Echo,(I think that's what it was) I was nervous on post and didn't know what to expect from my first post-briefing, I walked over to Carp, who was sitting in his guard shack, opening up a box of chow. I asked him "How he liked that post and if anyone ever stopped by, higher-ups?" He said "Just relax Davidson, no one ever comes out here" I wasn't comforted by what he said, but by his confidence and how he sounded. I was taken back by him! Carp was a very memorable person... RIP Bro, God Bless his family!

Crystal, when I think of Jason I remember his bright, loving and joyful personality! He always attacked life with a belief that all things were possible through faith, family, and love. Jason will never be forgotten in our hearts and minds his dedication and strength will carry those of us who loved him through. Now playing and resting peacefully in our heaven he is an angel whom will wait for all of us whom will join him someday in our Father's kingdom. I thank you for your love and caring knowing that your commitment to him and your love was something he treasured everyday of his life from your first moments until the end. There is no greater gift then to be truly loved and Jason was loved by so many. We hope you will remember you always have a home here in Maine, and unconditional love as that was what Jason gave so does the members of his family and we are a part of them. To the rest of our family Aunt Judy, Uncle Neil, an more we say that this pain will slowly lesson as the passage of time heals all but always know you are in our hearts and minds and we are here for you and love you all for there is nothing more important then family! Forever in our hearts love, Joe, Gretchen, & Tristan

What I remember most about Jason was feeling like part of his family. We often call each other brothers and sisters in the military. With Jason, I always felt that way, and by the looks at some of the comments I have been reading, others feel that way too. Jason...brother, you will not be forgotten. Love ya!
