Kayla Fletcher Obituary

Kayla Victoria Fletcher
1994 - 2015
PITTSFIELD - Kayla Victoria Fletcher, our angel, 20, peacefully went into heaven surrounded by her loving family after a six week battle of fighting leukemia on Monday, Oct. 5, 2015, in Boston.
Kayla was born on Nov. 14, 1994 in Waterville, the daughter of Scott and Tina (Tibbetts) Fletcher. A cheerleader at Maine Central Institute, she graduated in May with the class of 2015.
Kayla was everything you would want in a daughter, sister, friend and more. She has a strong and brave spirit and was also very sweet, loving, and kind. Kayla spread joy wherever she went. She taught people lessons from the day she was born. She was witty, playful and lived her life to the fullest. She had a love for animals; especially her own pets and they loved her in return. Kayla took great pride in being a good mommy to her "babies". She enjoyed painting and coloring with her Mommy and loved every moment she spent with her sisters too. Her very favorite place to be was at home. Kayla also enjoyed her many trips with her family, especially to Ohio, Tennessee and many beaches.
She will be sadly missed by her loving Mumma, Scotty, special sisters, Stephanie Joyce and her husband Terrence "Shorty brother", Melissa Fletcher and fiancé, Steven Beaulieu and nephew, baby Noah; her grandparents, Joan Kane and Ronald Tibbetts.
Kayla's time in heaven is accompanied by her loving Mimi and Papa, Richard and Priscilla Fletcher, her Grammy, Casey dog, and her sweet friend, Haley.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 11, at the Shorey-Nichols Funeral Home, 191 Hartland Ave, Pittsfield. A Mass will be held at 1 p.m., Monday, Oct. 12 at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 238 Detroit Street, Pittsfield. A Celebration of Life will follow at the First Congregational Church Fellowship Hall, 132 Somerset Ave, Pittsfield.
The family wishes to say a heartfelt thank you to all the wonderful medical staff throughout Kayla's life, especially Eastern Maine Medical Center and Tufts Medical Center Floating Hospital for Children, who cared for their precious Kayla, and gave all they could to help save her life, and for that the family will be forever grateful.
Dear, sweet Kayla, your family loves you so very much, forever and ever.

Dear Tina&Scott Fletcher, I am dearly sorry about your loss of sweet Kayla, Kayla made me happy when I was always down. She didn't have to say anything to make me happy, just seeing her beautiful smile made me know that Kayla would have been there for me. Now it's my turn to take that step and be there for you guys and the family. She wants me to show them how much I cared for you guys, by smiling! Kayla was a sweet angel, now she has earned her wings, her crown and most of all her white gown! Thank you Stephanie and Melissa for being there for me, when Kayla invited me over for our play date! I love you the Fletcher family with all my heart.

Stephanie, Missy, Tina & Scott -

Words can't express how much it hurts to have to say goodbye to Kayla. She was such a wonderful being and had such a sweet soul. I'm very sorry that I am not there with you, but please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you now and will be with you during tomorrow's service.

Though Kayla will be missed, the world is a better place and we are all better people because of her. I hope you find comfort knowing that she is now with God and her Mimi and Papa. God bless.

I'll lend you for a little time a child of mine, He said,
For you to love the while she lives, and mourn when she is dead.
It may be six or seven years or twenty two or three,
But will you, till I call her back take care of her for me?
She'll bring her charms to gladden you & though her stay be brief
You'll have some lovely memories as solace for your grief.
I cannot promise she will stay, since all the earth return,
But there are lessons taught down there I want this child to learn.
I have looked the world-wide over in my search for teachers true,
And from the throngs that crowd life's lane, I have selected you.
Now will you give her all your love nor think the labor vain,
Nor hate me when I come to call to take her back again?
We fancied that we heard them say, Dear Lord, Thy will be done!
For all the joy Thy child will bring, the risk of grief we run.
We will shelter her with tenderness; we will love her while we may
And for the happiness we have now forever grateful stay.
And shall the angels call for her much sooner than we planned,
We will brave the bitter grief that comes and try to understand. Author unknown.

Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct thy paths. Proverbs 3:5&6

This was sent to us when our 3 month old daughter died in 1969 (crib death, now referred to as Sudden Infant Death Syndrome). I hope it will be a source of comfort to you as it has been to us.
