1966-2014
Matthew A. Blake, son of Shirley A. and Thomas L. Blake, of Windsor, was born in Augusta on March 23, 1966, and moved on to the next world on Sunday, Jan. 5, 2014 at MaineGeneral Medical Center in Augusta.
Matt graduated from Windsor Elementary School and was a 1984 graduate of Gardiner Area High School. That was the year his life changed, after suffering his first aortic aneurysm dissection. Since that time he underwent eight open heart surgeries with many resultant complications. During those years he also spent many years working for Uplift Inc. in homes in Gardiner and Augusta, something he held very dear.
He was preceded by his dads, Thomas Blake, Russell Lambourne and Brooks Turner; his brothers, Larry Blake and Mark Lambourne; aunts; and several grandparents.
He leaves behind his mother, Shirley A. Turner, of Jefferson; his children, Derek Blake, and family, Amanda Ware, Ashton, Hayden, Taylor and Kendal; Heather Blake and AnnaMarie Geneseo, all of Augusta or Sidney; brothers Christopher Blake, daughters Isabelle and Sophie, all of St. Louis, Mo.; and Michael Lambourne and children Camren and Kristi, of Winston-Salem, N.C.; and special sister-in-law and family Stephanie and Kirk Von Rosenberg, Tom and Chelsey Blake and Emily Blake, all of Georgia. His family, especially his grandchildren, meant the world to Matt.
Their will be no visiting hours at this time as most of those he considered friends visited with him in the hospital in his final days. There will be a memorial service and celebration of his life in the spring.

I have known Matt for 30+ years. Although I had not seen him in a while recently we had the opportunity to talk and catch up. I remember thinking how much I admired his love for his family and how grateful he said he was to have been able to be here. We should all take a page from his book. RIP Matt

I'm a friend of Matt. I lost touch with him over years. I can say he would do anything for anyone. He was proud of his children. He always told me how appreciate his mom of her love and support. Rest in peace Matt, you're no longer suffering. You will be miss by many. My prayers go out to Matt's family and friends. May the memories you made with Matt help you thru hardest days ahead.
