Michael Spaulding Obituary
1958 - 2017
MADISON - Michael R. "The Wizard" Spaulding, 58, of Madison, died tragically on the morning of July 5, 2017, in Madison.
Michael was born on Sept. 11, 1958, in Skowhegan, the son of Ralph and Phyllis (McCollum) Spaulding. He was educated in the local schools and after graduation he enlisted in the United States Air Force.
He worked for many years as an airline maintenance mechanic and most recently he was a paper maker at the Madison mill and was proud of the work he did.
Mike loved his three sons, his partner and companion Sherry Chittenden, and he absolutely adored his one and only grandson, Korbyn Comeau-Miller.
He was a great storyteller; he enjoyed watching NASCAR and going to the races (Kasey Kane was his favorite). They say he got his love for racing from his mother. He was an avid deer hunter; he enjoyed fishing and boating on Wyman Lake.
Mike was the embodiment of kind-hearted. He would help anyone at any time. He plowed peoples' driveways in the winter and never asked for a dime. He invested a lot of time and money into his pool just so others could enjoy it. If you needed a hand, he was there. If you needed advice, he would be happy to give it; and if you just needed a friend, you would find one in Mike.
He was passionate about life and everything he did from his work to his personal life. He was an avid motorcycle enthusiast. He often said, "Any day you are riding is a good day."
"Life is a journey where we are navigators of our destiny, while our internal compass keeps us on course through all of our passages in life."
Michael was predeceased by his father, Ralph Spaulding; and a son, James Michael Spaulding.
He is survived by his three sons, Cory Michael Miller, Benjamin Michael Spaulding and Michael James Spaulding; his brothers, David Spaulding and Alan Spaulding; his two sisters, Ellen Tewksbury and Jane Reid; as well as his partner, Sherry Chittenden; and the mother of his children, Donna Spaulding.
Michael also leaves behind several nieces, nephews (he was a wonderful and generous uncle), aunts, uncles, cousins and many very good friends. He will be truly missed by all.
Visiting hours will be held Tuesday, July 11, 2017, from 4-8 p.m. at Giberson Funeral Home, 40 Maple St., Madison. A graveside service will be held Wednesday, July 12, 2017, at 11 a.m. in Forest Hill Cemetery, Park Street, Madison. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Giberson Funeral Home, Madison. Our sympathy to all those in Mike's family and to his friends and co-workers. We all kind of grew up together in Anson for a time. I lived just down the road next to Getchell Brook and up Sawmill Hill to Ingalls Street. Most likely I knew all of you a little!

Uncle Mike! Wow! What an amazing life you had. People who loved you, 3 sons who only want to make you proud, nieces and nephews who thought you made the sun shine. You were such a wonderful role model for everyone around you. I know that you were a huge influence in Anthony's life. He's an amazing husband and I know someday he'll be an amazing Dad. The men in his life like his Dad, you, and his cousins are the reason he is such an amazing man. I am so glad I got to know you for the time that I did. You will be missed. Enjoy partying up there!

To Jane and all the Family members, Words cannot begin to mend the hurt felt at this time, I knew both Mike and Jane , working with both over the years. My memories of Mike go back well over the years at MPI. Whenever he would see me, he would call me "Lee_Lee". Mike is the only person I had ever met who would call me that, any time he was in my presence. Our prayers are with you all.
