Claudette Spaulding Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Cote Funeral Home on Mar. 31, 2026.
Claudette J. Spaulding

Claudette Jeannette Spaulding, 81, of Saco, passed away after a brief illness on the morning of Sunday, March 29th, 2026, at Maine Health Medical Center in Portland.

Claudette was born in Saco on August 29th, 1944, a daughter of Wilfred and Jeannette (Thibeault) Labonte. She was raised in Saco alongside her brother and sister.

She attended Notre Dame de Lourdes School and graduated from Thornton Academy in Saco.

Claudette met her future husband, Norman Spaulding, by chance at a local dance hall. The two grew close and later married in April of 1964. The couple raised their son and two daughters and spent 61 years together.

In her early years, Claudette was an office manager for an insurance agency. However, her true passion was her role as School Crossing Guard for the City of Saco which spanned for twenty years. She often expressed disappointment as the school year ended and was always eager and excited about the start of every new school year. She was incredibly dedicated to the children and their parents and cherished the relationships made over the years.

Claudette was a devoted Patriot's fan and rarely missed a game. She also was an avid reader with Nicholas Sparks as her favorite author. She would often carve out time to relax with a good book. In the warmer months, she would make her way down to spend time at Old Orchard Beach and Camp Ellis. She would stop at her favorite restaurants, Olive Garden and Ken's Seafood, for a nice meal.

Her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren were her world. She never missed birthday or any milestone celebration. Her favorite holiday was Thanksgiving because it would mean that all her favorite people would come together under one roof, including her beloved dog, Muffin. She will be sadly missed by many.

Claudette was predeceased by her parents, her sister: Constance Lambert and husband Renald, her brother: Denis Labonte and wife Hellen, and her dog: Muffin.

Claudette is survived by her husband: Norman Spaulding, her son: Tim Spaulding and wife Lisa Marie Aia, her two daughters: Lynn Cote and husband Michael, and Tina Paul and husband Lloyd, her grandchildren: Megan Cutler and husband Kyle, Gavin Cote and wife Catherine, Michelle LaChance and husband Anthony, Caleb Paul and wife Johnelle, and Jenna Paul and fiancé Asael Sibo, and her great-grandchildren: Natalie Cutler, Charlotte Cutler, Tucker LaChance, Ada Cote, Cameron Paul, and three coming in the spring.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to the Saco Police Department in her honor.

Visiting hours will take place from 10AM-11AM on Tuesday, April 7th, 2026, at Cote Funeral Home, Saco. A Funeral Service will follow at 11AM at Cote Funeral Home, Saco.
