1930 - 2018
AUGUSTA - Paul L. Labbe, 88, died Monday, April 23, 2018, at the MaineGeneral Rehabilitation and Nursing Care Center at Glenridge following a long illness. He was born in Augusta on March 16, 1930, a son of the late Adelard and Marie Ann (Boulette) Labbe.
Paul was a graduate of Cony High School and had been employed for 40 years at Statler Tissue.
He was a communicant of St. Augustine Catholic Church and was a member of Abnaki Council #334 3rd Degree Knights of Columbus, Abnaki Assembly #346 4th Degree Knight of Columbus, Life member of the Calumet Club and a former member of the Cushnoc Senior Citizens.
Paul was predeceased by his wife, Florence (Violette) Labbe; a son, Michael P. Labbe; a brother, Gerard Labbe and four sisters, Arlene Gagnon, Simone Rodrigue, Lorette Rancourt and Therese Veilleux.
He is survived by a son Dennis Labbe and his wife Charlene of Nobleboro, two daughters Marianne White and her husband Tunney of Sidney and Paula Dube and her husband Bert of Vassalboro; a brother Lucien Labbe of Augusta, a sister Claudette Masselli and her husband Jerome of Chelsea; 13 grandchildren, Michael, Holly, Trevor, Trisha, Jake, Bethany, Darrek, Brandon, Benjamin, Keith, Lisa, Jenn and April; many great- grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
At the end of his life's journey music became the best form of engagement for him with his loved ones. In his last hours, he was surrounded by music and loved ones.
Relatives and friends may visit on Sunday, April 29, from 2-5 p.m. at Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant St., Augusta, where officers and members of Abnaki Assembly #346 4th Degree Knights of Columbus are asked to meet at 1 p.m. to prepare for the Posting of the Guard and officers and members of the Calumet Club are asked to meet at 2 p.m. to recite prayers for their departed member. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, April 30, at 11 a.m. at St. Augustine Catholic Church, Northern Ave., Augusta. Burial and committal prayers will follow in the family lot at Holy Family Cemetery, Townsend Rd., Augusta. Condolences, photos and stories may be shared through the funeral home website at:
