Rosalie Mae (Jordan) Plourde, 85, passed away at the Augusta Center for Health and Rehabilitation on Sunday, Nov. 27, 2016 after a long illness, Rosalie was born in South Kingstown, R.I. on Oct. 6, 1931 to George and Louise (Pouliot) Jordan, the youngest of six children. Rosalie graduated from South Kingstown High School. Rosalie married Arthur Plourde in 1953, they started a dairy farm in Peace Dale, R.I. and had six children. In 1969, Arthur and Rosalie bought a farm in West Gardiner. Their children all graduated from Gardiner Area High School where Rosalie was an enthusiastic supporter of all their activities. Rosalie was an avid sports fan, she also enjoyed bowling, softball, and cake decorating for the birthdays of her children and grandchildren. Arthur and Rosalie dairy farmed in West Gardiner until 2012 when Arthur retired and built their little house near the farm pond. They celebrated their 63rd anniversary in April.
Rosalie was predeceased by her parents; and three brothers, George, Alfred, and Robert. She is survived by her husband Arthur, her sister Eleanor of New Jersey, and brother Donald of Texas. Also surviving are her six children and their families, daughter Nancy and husband John Armentrout of Farmingdale, son Nelson Plourde and partner Tammy Miller of West Gardiner, son David Plourde of West Gardiner, daughter Patricia and her husband Peter Caradonna of West Gardiner, son James Plourde and his wife Ann of West Gardiner, and son Joseph Plourde and his partner Tiffany Glidden of China. Rosalie had quite a few grandchildren from this brood and provided day care for several of them, they are Jacob Allen and Lucas Armentrout, Devon and Heather Plourde, Peter and Jordan Caradonna, Anthony and Stephanie Plourde, Sienna, Jackson, and Grace Plourde, Matthew and Thomas Plourde. Rosalie was also blessed with six great-grandchildren.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude for the help Rosalie received at home from Betty and Monette with Home Care for Maine and the warmth and caring she received from the staff at the Augusta Rehabilitation Center during her stay there.
Relatives and friends are invited to visiting hours at the Staples Funeral Home at 53 Brunswick Ave., Gardiner from 2-4 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2016 with a memorial service to begin at 4 p.m. Rosalie will be interred at the Maine Veterans Cemetery Thursday morning.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Rosalie's name to the:
