Stephen Dore Obituary

Stephen A. Dore
1957 - 2015
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. & Vassalboro - Stephen passed away unexpectedly and suddenly on March 3, 2015, in Albuquerque, N.M. He was born on July 8, 1957. Steve graduated from Cony High in 1978 in Augusta.
He was a volunteer firefighter for the city of Vassalboro for approximately 20 years. He worked for the American Red Cross in Maine as a volunteer after he got hurt from driving 18-wheeler. He had been employed by Sandia Casino until he became disabled.
He was a generous man to everyone. He had kind words to everyone that needed that little lift in life or a strong hug. He loved going to the kids' sports throughout their school years. He enjoyed spending time with his family back in Maine every summer. Steve always enjoyed being outdoors, it didn't matter what he was doing he always enjoyed it.
Always a steadfast New England sports fan, some of his last conversations with family were about the hope that springs eternal with a new Red Sox season. Enjoy the view from Heaven, Steve. The Sox need an angel.
He loved living in New Mexico, but Steve never lost touch with his Maine roots, and kept in touch with the east coast world online, often updating his Maine friends and relatives with news and events going on around them they were not even aware of yet. And, in character with his kind heart, never judging anyone for being behind the times.
He was a great husband and father to his two children; he was never seen as a stepfather to them, always a father. He will always be loved and missed. He was predeceased by his father Gerald Dore. He leaves and will always be lovingly remembered by his wife Diane of 29 years; sons Andrew from Carver, Mass., Daniel from Albuquerque; his mother Phyllis Dore from Vassalboro; siblings: sister Margaret Lawrence, husband Mike of Fayette, brother Gerald Dore Jr. and partner Mira of Tavernier, Fla., brother Robert Dore and wife Cindy of Vassalboro, brother Richard Dore and wife Jodi of China, brother William Dore and partner Tammy, and brother John Dore of Vassalboro.
Condolences can be sent to Diane Dore at 9501 Desert Pine Ave SW, Albuquerque, N.M. 87121. Please visit Steve's online guest register at www.riversidefunerals.com. Arrangements entrusted to Riverside Funeral Home, 225 San Mateo NE, Albuquerque, N.M. (505)764-9663.

It's been 5 years that you have gone to heaven. Seems like it just happen. There isn't a day that I don't think of you. We had 29 years of good times. I often think of the times that we just took a ride to the coast or the mountains in Northern Maine. Here in New Mexico rides consisted of just going that a way. Always surprised of the not knowning where we were. There has been so much that has happen to me since you left that I had to deal with, but I knew that you were not far away to help me. Miss you so much. Your loving wife Diane

Diane -
I was so sorry to hear of Steve's passing. We grew up in the Riverside section of Vassalboro and the Dores were always an active part of Riverside life - from Riverside school, to 4-H, to the Volunteer Fire Dept. Steve was younger than me, so we didn't know each other well growing up, but that didn't stop him from friending me on Facebook and I always looked forward to his posts. The Dores are good people and it is sad to have Steve go...But now he's got the best seats for the Red Sox.
Blessings to your family.

We had 29 years of a good marriage. We have seen each other in our good times and bad times. But we have always been together through it all. I miss you so much. You gave me so much courage in my life that now it seems very empty. I know that I will get though this with all the memories that we shared. Keep being my Angel until we meet again. Your wife always.
