Steven Douglas Emery
1955 - 2016
DETROIT - Steven Douglas Emery, 61, died at his home on Saturday, Oct. 29, 2016, in Detroit.
Steve was born on August 18, 1955, in Hartland, the son of the late Philip and Jean (Huard) Emery.
Steve proudly served as the Police Chief for the town of Pittsfield for 25 years. He was involved with Hooked on Fishing in the school system, a program dedicated to teaching the kids to live a healthy lifestyle and to deal with the challenges facing them in their daily lives.
Steve was a proud father and grandfather. He loved his family and enjoyed being with them. He liked hunting, fishing and four wheeling. He had a great sense of humor and a love for all animals. He was a member of the Sebasticook Valley Elks Lodge #2713 in Pittsfield for many years.
He is survived by his companion, Karen Baker of Detroit; his daughters, Tiffany Lackie-Ketcham and husband, Harold, of Pittsfield and Allyson Emery of Skowhegan, sons, Jacob and Joshua Baker; grandchildren, Mariah, Kenneth and Kohana; siblings, Leon Emery and wife, Denise, of Litchfield, Allen Emery and wife, Kimberly, of Ohio, Julie Belanger and husband, Thomas of Winslow and Patti Johndro of St. Albans; mothers of his daughters, Cindy Emery and Mary Marshall; mother-in-law, Betty Corson; his hunting buddies, Scott Harriman, John Curtis, J.J. Curtis and Scott Wilson and so many more; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members and friends.
He was predeceased by his parents; infant children, Bobbi Jean and Steven D. Emery Jr; and brother, Leo.
The family will receive friends from 5 - 8 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2016, at the Shorey-Nichols Funeral Home, Pittsfield. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 3, at the funeral home with Pastor Matt Bagley officiating. A committal will immediately follow at the Village Cemetery, Peltoma Avenue, Pittsfield. A gathering will follow at the Elks Lodge and all are welcome.
