ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- Allan McConnell Craig III, of Annapolis, Md., and Orr's Island, died peacefully at home in Annapolis on May 19, 2012, of natural causes.
Allan was born on Dec. 31, 1934, in Mt. Kisco, N.Y., to Carolyn Wickes Craig and Allan M. Craig Jr.
Educated at the Middlesex School in Concord, Mass., and Babson College in Wellesley, Mass., he spent his entire career with S. D. Warren/SAPPI in the fine printing paper industry. Following retirement, he enjoyed several years in the boat business.
Allan's interests included boating, fishing, hunting, travel, working the land during the family's 15-year ownership of a farm on the Northern Neck of Virginia and caring for his beloved bearded collie, Meggie. He was also a long-time member of St. Anne's Episcopal Church and a senior usher.
Allan is survived by Carol, his loving wife of 52 years; and three children, Allan McConnell Craig IV of York, Pa., and his wife Loredana Craig, Lauren Craig Ewald of Arnold, Md., and Peter Evans Craig of Annapolis and his wife Kristin Meyer. His grandchildren include Allan and Silvia Craig, Anna and Matthew Ewald and Jonas Craig. He is also survived by his sister, Joan Craig White of Haddam, Conn.; nieces Carolyn Wathey-Lee of Boca Raton, Fla., and Wendy Blume of Greenwich, Conn., and his nephews Niels Holch of Annapolis and Craig Holch of Essex, Conn. Allan was preceded in death by his parents; and his sister, Leonore Holch.
Friends are invited to join the family at a memorial service celebrating Allan's life on Friday, May 25, at St. Anne's Episcopal Church, Church Circle, Annapolis, at 11 a.m.

I always remembered the help and guidance Allan gave me when I was a 'boot salesman" working in New York. He was always available with help, suggestions and wonderful stories about fellow employees and customers. Rest in peace.
