Barbara Jean Heenie Raynes, 78
SACO -- Barbara Jean Heenie Raynes, 78, of Saco, passed away on March 9, 2011, at her residence in Saco.
She was born in Gardiner on April 12, 1932, the daughter of Myron and Dorothy (Brown) Heenie. She was a graduate of Richmond High School and a post graduate of Morse High School.
In 1951, she married Warren E. Raynes in Bath and recently they celebrated their 59th Anniversary. She was a homemaker and moved to Saco in 1985.
She was a member of the Bangor Public Library for over 50 years. She had a special relationship with them where she reviewed their book purchases from year to year. She most recently worked for the Journal Tribune as a proof reader and various other positions for seven years.
She enjoyed reading animal books, novels and current events.
She was predeceased by her mother and father. Surviving are her husband of 59 years; a son, Jeffry Raynes and his wife Frances of Flemington, N.J., a daughter, Lisa R. Raynes of Biddeford; three grandchildren, Anna Dufour, Benjamin Dufour and his wife Jessica, Sam Rutka, two other grandchildren, Jim Boxmeyer, David Boxmeyer and his wife Kate; two great grandchildren, Henry and Dean Dufour, and three other great-grandchildren, Will, Abby and Owen.
In keeping with Barbara's wishes, there will be no services and burial will be private. Dennett, Craig and Pate Funeral Home, 365 Main St., Saco, are in charge of the arrangements.
