Danny Profenno Obituary

Danny R. Profenno
BRUNSWICK -- It is with a deep sense of sadness that the family of Danny Profenno announces his sudden passing at his home in Brunswick on Friday, April 2, 2010.
He was born May 29, 1958, in Portland, the son of Camillo R. Profenno and Evelyn Maguire Ashby. He attended Freeport Schools and was a 1976 graduate of Freeport High School.
Dan went on to join the U.S. Navy in 1977 in which he served for two years. He returned home and in 1985 was married and then divorced in 1998.
He was affectionately known by many and will lovingly be remembered as a cheerful, kind and friendly individual who enjoyed helping others.
Dan worked as a volunteer for a long time at the Brunswick Seventh Day Adventist Community Center as well as doing charitable work for others. He enjoyed spending time with his family and lots of outdoor sports. He was a Deacon at his church and often sang for Special Music and so enjoyed studying the Bible.
Danny leaves behind his devoted daughter, Faith Rodriquez, and two grandchildren, Dante and Lillyanna Rodriquez all of Ensign, Kansas; his father, Camillo Robert Profenno of Freeport, his mother Evelyn (Maguire) Ashby of Harpswell; brother Timothy Profenno of Gorham, two sisters, Janice Peaslee of New Gloucester and Kimberly Profenno of Searsport; paternal grandmother Jennie Profenno of Freeport; many nieces, nephews; aunts, uncles and cousins. Dan was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Sherwood and Isabelle Maquire of Falmouth.
A funeral service will be held Thursday, April 8, at 11 a.m., at Stetson's Funeral Home, 12 Federal St., Brunswick, with Pastor Robert Farley officiating. Burial will follow in the family lot at Burr Cemetery, Freeport. Memorial condolences may be made and a memorial tribute may be viewed at wwwstetstonsfuneralhome.com.

I am so very sad to hear of Danny's passing....He was a student of mine when I taught at Freeport years ago. He was such a joy to have around. I remember once he played a trumpet solo at the Freeport Baptist Church. God bless the Profenno family during this troubling time....Rev. Gerald Oleson, Jefferson, NH

I'm sad & shocked to read Danny's obit in the paper today.
We grew up together in the neighborhood and played at Grove Street School Playground at off school hours, whirling on that merry-go-round endlessly.
He liked my little sister (Susan) a lot & would stop at the house to see if she was there, though he also stopped by to see myself or my Grandfather, Verne, who he worked with for a time.
He thought it was awesome that my Grandmother was rushed to the Hospital to donate her O Negative blood to save the life of (either his Dad or Uncle, I forgot which) his family member.
Last time I saw him I ran into him in Portland and gave him a ride home to Brunswick.
He was always his authentic self with me and I loved him for that.
I regret that I can't make it to his Service, as I have a 10:30 appointment I have to keep.
I will morn him & miss him knowing he's not with us now.

Peace & Love ~
