To the entire Charland family,

My son and I met Dave many years ago on a caribou hunting trip. We both have so many fond memories of Dave and that trip. He was just so much fun and the room lit up as he arrived with yet another story or adventure! Please know that our thoughts and prayers are with you.

I had only met Dave last June, his beautiful wife Diane, had began working with me. I had a few occasions when I had visited with them as a couple, admiring the closeness they shared, marveling in how they seemed to fit perfectly together. I fell in love with Dave, there is simply was no way not too. His quick smile, hearty laugh, hospitality and fun personality made it impossible not to. I knew Dave was an exceptional guy from the start.

What made Dave an exceptional man was how he would reach out to others. Last November, I found myself in quite a quandry, I found myself living in a seasonal camp not realizing that I wouldn't be able to keep it warm. By happenstance Diane had called me that chilly night and learned of my little dilemma, I was literally shivering on the phone. I was embarrassed when I heard her tell Dave and in a flash he was on the phone asking me a hundred questions then telling me he was coming to help. Two days later Dave and Diane were on my front porch helping me button up a camp. What makes this so unusual is that I kept telling them I was fine, I live almost three hours away, one way. They only had weekends off, I did desperately need the assistance but didn't want to impose. No wasn't an acceptable answer for them, that's the kind of loving friends a person could only pray for.
In the world of selfish, self centered people, Dave stood out. A sweet loveable guy who would do anything for anyone. I wish I had the honor of knowing him decades but he will not be forgotten......
