David Hau Obituary

David Bruce (Horr) Hau, 76
PORTLAND - David (Horr) Hau, 76, born Sept. 5, 1941, of Portland, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 21, 2017, at Gosnell Hospice House in Scarborough, after a battle with Cancer and Kidney failure.
A hard worker all of his life, David attended Portland schools and worked with his brothers pouring concrete foundations. He also worked 20 years as an upholsterer at Enterprise Mattress (Dana Warp mill in Westbrook) and he retired from Maine Medical Center after 20 years in the Food Services Department.
His favorite things included: spending time with his family, antiquing and "treasure hunting" with his wife. He enjoyed antique cars and old refurbished radios, along with being at Little Sebago Lake in Windham and enjoying Portland's scenic coastline. David was a very unselfish, quiet man, always putting everyone's needs before his own. He was his family's caretaker. When asked how he was doing, his standard replies were "Finest KInd", or "I'm fine, don't worry about me".
David is survived by his wife Sharon (Rickett) Hau; and daughters Janice M. Ayers and husband Duane, Laurie A. Nadeau and husband Paul, and son Kevin T. Hau and wife Christine; six grandchildren, Emily & Erin Ayers, Raymond & Lauren Nadeau, and Christopher & Connor Hau; two brothers Dana and James Horr, two sisters Shirley (Doughty) Horr and Margaret (Pressnell) Horr, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Dana O. Horr and Anna E. Malia Horr; sister Anna (Horr) Maynard, brothers Dick Horr, Bill Horr and Robert Malia (Horr).
He died surrounded by the people who meant the most to him, his loving family, in peace forever.
The family would like to invite you to share your stories and condolences on Thursday Oct. 26, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Jones, Rich & Barnes Funeral Home, 199 Woodford St, Portland 207-775-3763. A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday Oct. 27, at 10:00 a.m. at Jones, Rich & Barnes Funeral Home, followed by a committal service at Brooklawn Memorial Park. Dear sweet uncle David - what can be said of a man whose love was pure and genuine with never a thought for himself? He knew the value of spending time with those he loved and it showed in the love that was returned to him. So many special memories... Prayers, hugs and love to Aunt Sharon, Janice, Laurie and Kevin.

I often told David that there wasn't enough paper to write down what He meant to me. He shook His head that He understood. David was a quite man, but His life spoke a loud message of how a man should live. So proud to be His sister. He is gone but will ALWAYS be loved and missed.

I have very fond memories of Uncle David from visits he made to Tennessee and visits we made to Maine. He was a kind, selfless man who meant so much to so many. I know he has heard "well done, my good and faithful servant" from our heavenly Father. God had a great purpose for David's life and the result of a life well lived can be seen in his loving family. He will be missed on this earth, but I rejoice in knowing that we will meet again one day. Much love and many hugs are sent to his precious family from the Storms family.
