Edward O'Brien Obituary

Edward A. O'Brien Sr., 70
CASCO -- Edward A. O'Brien Sr. of Casco passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2006, at the age of 70. Edward courageously battled kidney disease.
Edward was born in Millstream, New Brunswick in 1936. He spent his childhood working on the family farm where he developed a love for animals and the outdoors that lasted throughout his life. Edward spent several years mastering the trade of hardwood flooring, which he has since passed down to both of his sons and grandsons. He spent the last 20 years in the driver's seat of Papa's Truck doing hauling and excavation work. His commitment to work never interfered with his love and admiration for his family.
Mr. O'Brien spent the last years of his life perfecting his knack for spoiling his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The personality of this remarkable man will reflect in the lives of all those he has influenced over the years.
Edward is survived by his loving wife, Barbara of Casco, and their three adult children: son Charles A. O'Brien of Bridgton; daughter Carmella M. and husband Stephen LeBrun of Shapleigh; son Edward A. O'Brien Jr. and wife Sharon of Cumberland; and daughter-in-law Darlene Soule of Casco. Edward was blessed with nine grandchildren: Christen Bruno, Charles O'Brien, Corey O'Brien, Stephanie LeBrun, Daniel O'Brien, Carissa O'Brien, Heather LeBrun, Nicholas O'Brien, Edward O'Brien; and five great-grandchildren: Kyle, Hayleigh, Emma, Austin, and Billie Marie. He also leaves behind two brothers and six sisters.
Edward's family extends their deepest appreciation to the staff at Casco Bay Dialysis Center in Westbrook for the outstanding care and support they have blessed him with over the past seven years. With continued hope and prayer for the patients of Casco Bay Dialysis, his family joins in wishing the very best for those awaiting transplants. He shares his humble request with the community: please, don't take your organs to heaven; heaven knows we need them here.
Visiting hours will be held Sunday, Nov. 19, 2006, at the Dolby Funeral Chapel, 434 River Road, Windham, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, Nov. 20, 2006, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, Rte. 302, Windham at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Lakeside Cemetery, Rte. 121, Casco.
In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to:

Dear Mrs. O'Brien,
We send our deepest sympathy to you and your family. Mr. O'Brien and you were wonderful comfort to my father, Maurice Tanguay when he was having dialysis. My father found comfort in seeing your husband there - especially in his eyes. I pray that time will help heal your broken heart and the space there be filled with memories of your husband. It takes time - allow that time for you and your family. Be together as much as possible - that is where you all will feel your husband - especially in the grandchildren. May God Bless you and hold you dear at this time.
You are in our prayers,
June Lentz (Maurice's oldest daughter)

Dear Barbara,

My deepest sympathy is with you at this time. Your husband was a kind man. He saved me the day of the hail storm, back when we were neighbors, when he opened the garage up so i could duck in there with my horse. I will be thinking of you and your family especially during this holiday season.
