Dear Helen, Halbert, Naoni and Douglas,
Dad, sharon and I were very sadened with the passing of Hal. We used to have some good times when we were young. Dad often mentions how he and Hal used to celebrate their birthdays togather. You are all in our thoughts and prayers.

Hal,
Both of your parents were so dear to me all those years ago. I remember your Dad vividly. I loved his smile. My mother called me tonight to tell me about his death. I am going to be in Gardiner visiting her for most of the coming week. I can't tell if the cemetery service is a public service, but will call the funeral home and check tomorrow.

My best to you and your family at this sad time,
Lois (now Annie) Dellert Raskin

Uncle Hal will be missed by all who knew him. His quick wit, friendly demeanor, and pleasant smile gave assurance that you would enjoy your time with him. He was a great sportsman, who taught me an appreciation for our natural environment, with fishing and hunting trips in Northern Maine. We always had fun times at his cottages at Portage Lake and later on Taylor Pond. The Fowler family sends its condolences to Aunt Helen, Halbert, Naomi, Douglas and the entire Stevens family.

Doug and Jeri - I am so sad at this news. I only knew Hal a short time, but fell in love with him at the first 'hello'. He was a joy to be with and I learned many things from him. I so admired his pure love and devotion for Helen. I am a better person for knowing him and there is a place in my heart just for Hal.
God Bless Helen, you, and the whole family. Please let me know if there is any way I can help.
Love,
Bambi

When we bought Hal and Helen's house in Gardiner in 1979 my last comment to Hal was, "Are you sure you don't come with the sale?" He was that special.
My thoughts and prays go to Helen and the Stevens' children.

Hal was one of the most professional and knowlegeable soldiers which I have ever known. I was priviledged to have had the opportunity to have been militarrily mentored by him for several years as a member of the Maine National Guard. His devotion and insight into accomplishing great things was unsurpassed. I will always be thankful that our paths crossed and for the time that he devoted in guiding young Maine Guard personnel to achieve far beyond that which occured without his guidance.

Norma and my condolences to Helen and other family members.
