Joshua Libby Obituary

Joshua Kendell Libby, 16 GRAY -- Joshua Kendell Libby, 16, of Yarmouth Road, Gray, passed away Tuesday, June 9, 2009, in a tragic automobile accident in New Gloucester. He was born Dec. 13, 1992, in Portland, to Kendell J. Libby and Anne L. Thoits-Libby. He attended Saint Joseph's in Portland for eight years and was a sophomore at Gray-New Gloucester High School. He was employed at Jess N' Nic's and also as a camp counselor for the town of Gray. He was a member of the Sons of American Legion Post#86. Joshua was a very outgoing young man with many, many friends of all ages. He was very involved in sports, having played on the varsity basketball and golf teams at G-NG. He had loved his four years on the little lad football team in Portland. Joshua loved to fish. Biking, boating, swimming at the lake, hanging out with friends and playing with his family dog 'Hunter' were among the pleasures he very much enjoyed. Joshua loved to sing. He knew every word to every song. Joshua leaves behind his dearly beloved sister, Amanda Elizabeth Libby; grandparents Sandra and Robert Donnelly of Windham and Florida, John D. Thoits of Gray; great-grandmother Laura Lane; great-aunt Helen Frye of Raymond; uncles and aunts, Steven and Lee-Anne Dahms, Brenda and Stephen Leo, David Thoits, Pam Moreau, Shawn Thoits, Paul and Melissa Thoits, Ryan and Bethany Thoits; and cousins, Clara, Dakota, Hayden, Kari, Andrew, Jeremy, Jenalee, Liana, Jason, Travis, Joel, Nicholas, Christopher, Kayla, Jonathan, Abigail and Baily. Together Kendell and Lynelle had made a safe warm and loving home for Josh, Amanda, Lindsay, Jaclyn and Bobcat. Joshua was predeceased by grandparents, Gloria and Jimmy Dahms, and Frederick A. Libby. A memorial service will be held at G-NG High School on Tuesday, June 16, at 2:30 p.m. Committal services will be held in Gray Village Cemetery at a later date. Arrangements are by Wilson Funeral Home, Gray. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: The 'Joshua Libby Memorial Fund' Androscoggin Bank P.O. Box 1269 Gray, Maine 04039 Joshua Kendell Libby

I am so sorry to hear of the tragic loss of Josh. I was his First Grade teacher. He always had a smile, and he would even laugh at my corny jokes. He sure loved recess. No matter what game he was playing, he gave it his all.God bless.

Anne,

Jill told me of your loss and my heart bleeds for you! I know the pain you are feeling as I lost my daughter Amanda (Mandy)in November of 2008.

Your Son Josh sounds like he was an amazing young man and I think he and Mandy would have found they had lots in common and would have gotten along well.

I am here if you ever need/want to talk and I am holding you in my thoughts and prayers.

Sincerely - Rebecca

No words are adequate at this difficult time, but I hope they bring a few moments of comfort. I have always admired what a great Mom you are. Amanda,
Sweet sweet Amanda. This is a terrible loss for you. I know only too well how horrible it is to lose a sibling. I always saw that you were a wonderful and loving sister. You were always so good to him and I never saw any friction or sibling rivalry. That always amazed me. You have always been wiser and more mature than your years-just like your mom was at your age. She was always light years ahead of all of us in the maturity department. I see you have those wonderful qualities that she has. You and Josh were always very special to me.
love,
Jill

Anne and Kendell,
I can barely write this through the tears in my eyes. My week-end in Rangeley was filled with memories of our wonderful and fun times when you all came up on the fourth of July each year. I could hear Josh's voice while he was fishing off the dock and yelling up to you both when he got a bite. He had a beautiful singing voice and I remember trying to bribe him to sing for us at the camp. So much fun--and the moose watching after dark in the expedition. Amanda and Josh are two very special children in my heart. They were always very polite, articulate, funny, and an absolute pleasure to be with. I know things have been very hard, but I was always amazed at what wonderful parents you both were. Your children truely seemed happy. It was so obvious how your children were your life.I am so deeply sorry. Anne, you are always and will always be in my heart. There are some bonds that just cannot be broken.
