Marc Aaron Butler, 65
ARLINGTON, Mass. -- Marc Aaron Butler, 65, of Arlington, Mass., a former resident of Sanford, died on Sept. 5, 2012, at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers, Mass., after a battle with pancreatic cancer.
He was born in Sanford on Aug. 18, 1947, the son of Harold W. and Celia (Butterfield) Butler, attended local schools and was a graduate of Sanford High School.
Civic minded, Marc was a former president of the Arlington Children's Theater and an elected member of the Arlington Democratic Town Committee. Marc sang with Iveria, an a cappella men's choir for 20 years.
He was a longtime member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he served as a Temple Ordinance Worker, Elders Quorum President and Stake Financial Clerk.
Survivors include his wife, Deborah (Sirotkin) Butler of Arlington, Mass.; his son Samuel Aaron Butler, also of Arlington, Mass., his daughter Sarah Hannah Butler of Waltham, Mass.; and his sister, Deborah Gullison and her children Whitney Gullison and Brian Nieder of Springvale.
Relatives and friends are invited to call on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main St., Springvale. A funeral service will be conducted on Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Sanford Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Westview Drive, Sanford. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery in Sanford. Arrangements are under the direction of the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main St., Springvale.
