Marion Frye Obituary

Marion Louise
(Jacklin) Frye, 90
March 16, 1921 - May 16, 2011
YARMOUTH -- Marion Louise 'Mame' (Jacklin) Frye, 90, lifetime resident of Yarmouth, went home to her Maker on May 16, 2011, after an extended illness.
She was born on March 16, 1921, in Yarmouth the daughter to the late William Hastings and Lucy Earl (Ruby) Jacklin. She graduated from North Yarmouth Academy in Yarmouth. At the age of 19, on Dec. 19, 1940, she married Ernest Clifton Frye Jr. of Cumberland.
Mrs. Frye was a member of the Eastern Star in her younger years and a member of the First Baptist Church of Yarmouth. Marion was an avid game playerÉcards and all kinds of competitive table games. Saturday night bean suppers with Bingo were normal outings for her over the weekends.
She was a very social woman who loved attending social gatherings, but even more soÉhosting and entertaining others herself. She was an excellent cook (receiving the award for Maine's winning custard pie) and she enjoyed passing her recipes along to her daughter-in-law, granddaughter and niece.
Marion had a wonderful sense of humor. Most importantly though, she was a very dedicated Christ-follower and knew where she was going for certain upon her departure from this earth.
Marion was preceded in death by her loving husband of 48 years, Ernest C. Frye Jr., in March of 1988. She is survived by her only child, son, Ernest William Frye of Ashland, Mass., and his wife Randa R. (Keith) Frye; her only grandchildren, Deryck Clifton Frye (his wife Stacy Frye) and Ginelle Ruth Payne (her husband David Payne), both of Massachusetts; and seven great-grandchildren, Devon Frye, Mallory Frye, Ashton Payne, Madison Frye, Kelsie Payne, Morgan Frye and Dakota Payne, all of Massachusetts. She is also survived by her loving sister, Evelyn Lucy Stoddard, and her brother, William Hastings Jacklin Jr., both of Maine; and her nieces, Claire (Jacklin) Walchinsky of Pennsylvania, Mary Jane Curit of Maine, and a nephew, Craig Stoddard, also of Maine. Then too, she is survived by many, many friends who loved her and cherished her for her friendship, kindness and servitude. Although Marion had only one biological child, she was a 'mother to many.'
On Friday, May 20, at 2 p.m., there will be a service honoring Marion's life held at the First Baptist Church of Yarmouth at 346 Main St., Yarmouth. Flowers may be sent to Lindquist Funeral Home of Yarmouth, at 1 Mayberry Lane. God saw you getting tired & here on earth nothing more could be done. So He put His arms around you & whispered "Come to Me." Although we loved you dearly, we could not make you stay. A loving heart stopped beating, hardworking hands at rest...God broke our hearts to prove to us HE only takes the best. We'll miss you!

Where do I start to put so many memories of my childhood and growing up across the street from Mamie and Tinkabell!! I am so thankful that I was able to see Mamie on my last visit to Maine in 08.. Thanks to seeing Evie and finding out where she was living in Falmouth.. Living on West Elm street .. the video back then of me riding my new bike that Mamie took, spending time downstairs in their "dance" room, going over while mom and dad played cards and being the spoiled pest that I was... It has been so many years since seeing Ernie and Randa but please know my heart goes out to all of you for the loss of a woman so loved by all her kids in the neighborhood... Love from Mom (Charity) and Deb and I too..... Sending lots of love to all of you and Evie and Curly and all the family.. Mamie, you will be missed, just as Tinkabell still is..

Aunt Mamie- I loved you so much as you were such an guiding light for me- particularly in most recent years. Thinking of you- reminds me how much I loved it when you cooked (your mac & cheese was the greatest), wanted to go shopping or just simply wanted to talk one on one. These times will never be forgotten!!! Love- Deb

Please accept my condolances. I grew up in Yarmouth and my Dad owned the ESSO Staion just down Route #1 from Tink Frye's gas station. Although they were competitors in the gas station business, they helped each other succeed as Tink and Marion were friends with my Dad and Mom, Ed and Marie Davis. Seeing those old picture of Tink and Marion brought back a lot of memories. I remember Mrs. Frye as a very kind and loving person. She was always very kind to my twin brother, Bill and me. She was also very fun loving and I thought she really enjoyed life. My Dad was a very serious minded person but she could always get him to smile and laugh

So I answered, "I'm coming. I read in your letter what you wrote about me, And I'm coming to the party you're throwing for me." Psalm 40:7 (MSG)

Enjoy the party, Gram girl! Loving you always & always...

Ernie and Randa, we are saddened to hear of your mother's passing. We have enjoyed her friendship and company over the years from the years when we all were at NYA through the recent years at First Baptist in Yarmouth. And since we now live summers on Coffee Pond we think of her often as we kayak around and by where you all spent summers in the past. Take comfort in knowing where she is going and that you will one day have a joyfilled reunion with her.
