To Tamara,
I am Marianne's cousin. I am going to try to translate a summary of my thoughts into english as properly as I can.
We did not see much, but having myself a young baby girl, I think my thoughts are naturally going to your future.
Let us keep Matt as a loving memory.
And may Frances have all the clues to understand and grow up with you on her side.
Take good care

Dear Dana & Cindy- I am so shocked and sorry to hear about Matthew. Mostly I'm sorry that I never got to know him better- being 8 years older, I was mostly aware of him as one of my many younger cousins. When my grandfather died last year, Matthew & Tamara were there. Sharing a nice German beer with them, I remember thinking that I would really like to know them better, now that we're all grown up. It never occurred to me I wouldn't get the chance. Tamara, my dear, you struck me as such a vivacious & vibrant personality, I am sure that you brought great joy and love to Matthew's life. Please accept my love and condolences. My heart is with you all.
Love, Springli (Guy III's daughter).

My heart broke for you when I heard about Matt. While I never met him, I felt close to him as I heard about his adventures from you on our runs, ski trips and hikes. I can only imagine the pain and loss you feel. My prayers are with you and your family as you cope with this tragedy. My God bring you peace and comfort.

I am so glad to have met Matt. I will always remember his smile and his wonderful sense of humor, but also his seriousness about his work at the Bowdoin International Music Festival. He was an outstanding young man in every way who will live on in all of our memories. I send you my deepest sympathy and loving thoughts at this time.

To Herrick Family
He was one of the best - I was lucky to have met Matt in the U.S. and in Germany, and came to know, as many have, that he made the world a better place with his humour and open friendship. My thoughts are with you.

Tamara and family, I am so sorry for your loss. I met Tamara through doing work study at the muskie school of public service. Matt sounds like he was such a WONDERFUL, LOVING person. May you know he is with you always and forever. Frances Rose will carry his legacy for years to come, and she will always know her father loved her even before she made an entrance. It isn't fair when these things happen, but God has a plan for all of us, and it was Matt's turn to go and be an ever lasting angel to all who knew him. Take Care, and my sincere condelences to all the family

Matt was one the most wonderful and brilliant human beings I have known. We got each other through freshman year at Wheaton and the music we played together created a bind between us that no words can describe. I will miss him dearly and the world will be a lesser place without the sound of his bass, his glowing smile, and remarkable intellect.
