CAPE ELIZABETH -- Pauline (Polly) Goodridge Blaisdell, of 49 Resolution Place, Cape Elizabeth, died on Thursday, May 12, 2011, at Maine Medical Center after a short illness.
She was born on Sept. 7, 1920, in Westbrook, the third child of Joshua Goodridge and Florence (Alcorn) Goodridge. Polly graduated from Westbrook High School and attended Nasson College in Springvale for two years, studying Home Economics.
In 1942, she married Leon H. Blaisdell Jr. of Falmouth, a marriage that endured for 55 years until his death in 1998.
In 1946, Polly and Leon settled in York, where Polly worked for many years for Community Trust Company which later became Maine National Bank. She was active in the First Parish Church of York, the Order of Eastern Star, and was a volunteer at York Hospital for many years.
In 2002 she moved to Cape Elizabeth to be closer to her son. She volunteered for several years at the Portland Head Light Museum.
She loved to cook and especially enjoyed summer vacations at Belgrade Lakes.
In addition to her husband, Polly was predeceased by her sister, Janet Sawyer in 2006, and her brother, Richard Goodridge in 1963. She is survived by her children and their spouses, Bruce and Kristine Blaisdell of Cape Elizabeth, Martha and James Justice of Copperas Cove, Texas, and Lynne and Anthony Raizes of Greenland, N.H. She is also survived by five grandchildren and two great- grandchildren.
At Polly's request, there will be no funeral. Interment will be at a later date in York. Arrangements are by the Hobbs Funeral Home, 230 Cottage Rd., South Portland.
