Peters, 86
WESTBROOK -- Ruth Elizabeth Peters, 86, of Spring Street, Westbrook, passed away on Tuesday, March 29, 2011, at the Springbrook Nursing Home.
She was born in Hanover, Mass., the daughter of Philip and Agnes (Redmond) Batchelder. She was raised in in Belfast before moving to Westbrook.
Ruth worked for Goodwin's Red & White Store, Weyerhauser, and most recently for the Westbrook School Department before retiring.
She was predeceased by her husband, Lawrence Peters in 2006.
She loved dancing with her husband, snowmobiling, boating and camping on Sebago Lake, and spending summers at their camp on Spruce Head Island. She enjoyed taking long rides and sight-seeing, traveling to different destinations.
Ruth is survived by her daughter, Barbara Kelly of Westbrook; a sister, Nancy Smith of Hartland, Vt.; two grandchildren, Carol Tapley and David Tapley of Westbrook; and two great-grandchildren, Emma and Addison Tapley.
Visiting hours will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday at Blais & Hay Funeral Home, 35 Church St., Westbrook, where a funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday. Interment will be in the Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Augusta.
