Craig Cullen Obituary

Craig W. Cullen of Villanova Craig W. Cullen, 76, died peacefully on January 10th, 2016. Craig was the beloved husband of Alice Baker Cullen, devoted father of Craig “Woody” Cullen (Carolyn), Lindsay Scott, and stepfather of John Brooks (Caryn), Cynthia Nemo (Jon) and the late Christopher Brooks. Craig is also survived by 12 grandchildren and his siblings Edward Cullen, Sally Metcalfe and Eleanor Johnson. Craig graduated from The Haverford School in 1956 followed by a post-graduate year at The Lawrenceville School. Craig graduated from Trinity College in 1961 where he was a member of St. Anthony Hall. Upon graduation from Trinity College, Craig was an officer in the US Navy, serving on the USS Oglethorpe and then as a member of Admiral John McCain Jr’s staff. Returning home after his service in the US Navy, Craig joined his father at Cullen Construction, specializing in construction and real estate development. Craig and his father, the late Edward Cullen of Devon, PA, ran the business and built many beautiful homes throughout the Main Line area. Craig was later joined by his son Woody at Cullen Construction and together they continued the family tradition. Sailing was Craig’s greatest passion, along with hunting and fishing. He sailed his boat, Windwalker, in many Bermuda Races and was always most comfortable with the wind at his back! He loved to travel with family and friends on many great adventures around the globe. Craig was diabetic for much of his life and served on the board of the Penn Rodebaugh Diabetic Foundation. Finding a cure for diabetes remained a goal for him throughout his life. Craig was a kind and caring man who will be greatly missed by his family and friends. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made, in honor of Craig Cullen, to JDRF and mailed to JDRF, 225 City Avenue, Suite 104, Bala Cynwyd, PA 19004.
