Geoffrey Scott Obituary

Dr. Geoffrey C. Scott, 67, of Malvern, PA died Thursday, July 29, 2021 in his home. He was the husband of Julia A. (Ludrof) Scott for 25 years. Geoff was born in Mt. Holly, NJ to the late Luther and Constance (Ferber) Scott. Geoff was a lifelong lover of education and learning. He acquired this love at an early age from his mother who was a Dean at Rider College. Geoff earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Physical/Quantum Chemistry from Brown University, a Master of Science in Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania, and a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania. When Geoff’s parents told him he needed to get out in the ‘real’ world and start working, he used his free time to get his FAA Private Pilot and Commercial Aircraft Pilot with Instrument Rating licenses as well as many certifications in Scuba Diving. Geoff was proud of his Brown University roots and was a highly active volunteer for the Admissions Office interviewing many potential incoming students and writing recommendations to the university for over 20 years. Professionally, Geoff spent 15 years as a Member of Technical Staff at AT&T/Lucent (formerly Bell Laboratories), was an Assistant Professor at Rider University for 14 years, a Project Group Leader at marketRx, a Senior Manager at AstraZeneca LLC for 11 years, an Assistant Professor at Temple University College of Public Health, and a Lecturer in Analytics at Northeastern University. All of those things tell you what Geoff did, but not who he was. He was a talented woodworker having learned the skill from his father, a devoted son to his parents, a caring and generous uncle to his eight nieces and nephews, loved to travel and visit interesting places, an avid reader, and a very competitive player during family game gatherings especially trivia challenges. He loved to engage the minds of children by showing them magic tricks and giving them math problems to solve. Geoff enjoyed spending time at his beach house located in Fenwick Island, DE and spent many dollars purchasing French fries at McDonald’s to feed the seagulls on the beach. SURVIVORS: Former wife, Julia A. (Ludrof) Scott of Allentown, PA, sister, Germaine George and her husband, Easo George of Knoxville, TN and his furry son, Fenwick, a Portuguese Water Dog, sister-in-law Jane Merritt (Stan), brothers-in-law Joseph Ludrof III, Jeffrey Ludrof (Lori), and John Ludrof (Natalie), nephews and nieces Jeffrey Ludrof Jr., Joseph Ludrof, S. James Merritt, Brian Ludrof, Jared Ludrof, Laura Merritt Lesagonicz, Abbigail Ludrof, and Victoria Merritt. A celebration of Geoff’s life will be held in the Spring of 2022. Funeral arrangements are private and are being managed by the Logan Funeral Home, Exton, PA. Condolences may be offered at: LoganFuneralHomes.com

Lived on Kimer Dr. for 41 yrs.--Mr & Mrs Scott were first neighbors to greet us. Geoffrey used to ride his bike and our son used to talk to him all the time. So very intelligent and nice. Geoffreys parents came to our wedding also. My husband went to Ryder nights and met Mrs. Scott there many yrs. ago. Also made a wooden cutting board when we first moved here. Wonderful family. Very sad to hear about their son Geoffrey.

It was indeed sad to hear Geoff passed away. He was very smart and above all a wonderful human being. We had many discussions, technical and non-technical, when we were office mates working at AT&T, Hopewell, NJ. I had my last conversation with him over pizza in 2001 at Wildflowers, Pennington. My heart felt condolences to the family.

Geoff may you rest in peace.
