James McKay of Paoli, Pennsylvania, passed away after courageously battling cancer for over two years. James is survived by his wife, Marty (née Larkin); sons Nathanael James and Seth Brandt; brother Jonathan Charles, of Westmont, Illinois; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, and many nephews. James joins his mother, Sarah Brandt McKay and his father, Donald Evan McKay in Heaven. James was raised in Strafford, Pennsylvania, and graduated from Conestoga High School in 1983, where as a senior, he captained his Varsity Basketball Team and was named MVP. He then attended Penn State University, where he enjoyed playing club basketball, and graduated in 1987 with a BS in Real Estate. He went on to work as a Real Estate Appraiser first for Enterprise Appraisal, then as a senior appraiser at H. Bruce Thompson Jr. & Associates in Bryn Mawr. In 1996 he started his own successful venture: McKay Realty Consultants in Paoli. James shared his passion for sports with his sons and their peers, and coached both basketball and baseball for ten years. He was an avid volunteer in the schools, the church, the local sports leagues and the community. James will be sorely missed by his wife and sons, his loving extended family, and by all who knew him. As per James’ wishes, in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Great Valley Community Organization (a 501c3 organization and the parent organization for GVCO.) www.gvco.org A Memorial Service for James will be held at 1:00PM on Sunday, October 7 at Paoli Presbyterian Church (225 South Valley Road, Paoli). Light refreshments to follow the service.

So sorry for the loss of your husband Marty. I pray that the memories you all had with him can sustain you through this time. I know this disease all too well. My brother recently lost his wife at about the same age to the same disease. We just watch over him and he loves the company. You are a kind and caring person. Just know that people are always thinking of you.

My deepest condolences to the entire family in this difficult time. Jamie (as I always knew him) was a wonderful guy...I knew him from kindergarten through all of high school and later would see him on the sidelines at baseball and basketball games when Great Valley would play Berwyn Paoli. This may be a little known fact, but Jamie was one heck of a kickball player at Strafford elementary! He was a terrific person and I hold dear memories from the times we shared together.
