John Wilkinson Obituary

John A. Wilkinson, 70, of Bryn Mawr formerly of Merion and Phoenixville passed away suddenly on May 12th. John was a man with many passions and interests. He was a talented drummer with a vast knowledge of music, he loved to read about history, politics and all things Irish, old movies, dogs of any kind, Avalon of the old days, a good meal and Harley Davidson motorcycles. John graduated from Lower Merion high school where he played football, was on the crew team and was a drummer in the band. He then graduated from Temple university with a degree in accounting. He began his career as a CPA and worked for various companies and industries but worked for the McManus family- owned Peak Beam Systems for the last 23 years in Edgemont, PA. This was of great honor and joy to John as this family were lifelong friends of his. To know John was to love John. He was always ready for a good conversation about anything from world events to where items were located in the grocery store. Nothing made John happier than a family gathering. John's friendships from his childhood and youth were treasured memories that he often spoke of with great nostalgia. John is survived by his beloved daughter Julia (Jim Sotack) of Phoenixville, PA and Philadelphia, PA and his loving siblings Margi Morgart (Bill) of Egg Harbor Township, NJ, Rob (Molly) of Palm Beach, FL and Cathy Stewart (Keith) of Rosemont, PA and adoring nieces Elizabeth Morgart and Caroline Stewart. Also survived by his Farrell, Shaffer and Wilkinson cousins that he cherished and his former wife Ann Harkin. He is predeceased by his parents Robert and Margaret Wilkinson and niece Anna Sophia Wilkinson. There will be a Memorial Service for John at 11:00 am on Saturday, June 3rd at Ardmore Presbyterian Church. Contributions in his memory may be made to Main Line Animal Rescue, 1149 Pike Springs Road, Chester Springs, PA 19425. STUARD â€" NEWTOWN SQUARE A FAMILY TRADITION SINCE 1822

So sorry to learn yesterday that John has passed.
He was a great friend and a wonderful person.
We were good friends and spent a lot of time together in the 70´s. The obituary captured him and brings back wonderful memories of good times together in Avalon and the main line.

I am sorry I didn´t hear in time to attend the services and share your grief.

You were a great brother Johnny. We were always close, but, sure, we had some rough spots along the way. It was an honor to do so many things with you most of which lately were going to church, having a good breakfast or lunch at Minella´s or Murray´s and taking a great nostalgic ride. You taught me so much about music, history, our family and more. It never grew old. I will miss you till we meet again. Keith, Caroline and I cherished our time with you. You were one cool dude and always so easy to please. You were so generous, always up for a conversation or getting together. I know you are with your Lord and Savior, with mom and dad and others you missed so much. Thank you Johnny for enriching my life. I love you always brother. "Oh you don´t know the shape I´m in".
