Louise August Obituary

Louise Oncley August, born Genevieve Louise Oncley on October 11, 1935 in Boston, MA, died peacefully on February 3, 2022 in Scottsdale, AZ. Born and raised in Newton, MA, Louise attended Bates College before earning her nursing degree in 1959 from Columbia University. She worked as a Psychiatric Nurse in Boston where she met her husband, Dr. Charles S. August. They married March 1, 1964 in Cambridge, MA, and spent time living in Bethesda, Boston, Denver, Philadelphia, Coral Gables, and Gaithersburg, MD where her husband passed away in September 2016. Louise was a passionate lover of animals, especially her own pets. Louise was an avid crossword puzzler, bookworm, knitter, singer, and pianist. Above all, she loved her family and friends. She leaves behind four children that she dedicated her life to raising: Rebecca (Kevin Beckmen), David (Lori), Mathew, and Jenny. She is also survived by her younger sister, Nancy Thyng (David), nieces, nephews, and nine grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to AWSOM Animal Shelter of Stroudsburg, PA (PO Box 13, Stroudsburg, PA 18360), or the Humane Society.

Dear August Family, I googled Dr. August today 3/7/23 and learned of his death in 2016. I´m sorry for your loss of both your parents. Dr. August cured my Aplastic Anemia with a bone marrow transplant from my sister when I was 10 yrs old in 1981 at CHOP. I´ve lived in CA since 1982 and thought of Dr. August over the last 41 yrs. I´ll forever be grateful for his care and kindness. RIP
