Marian Flammer Obituary

Marian "Terri" Powers Flammer of Gladwyne, PA passed away peacefully on May 26, 2013 in the apartment at Waverly Heights she shared with her husband, William H. Flammer, Jr. Marian was born in Chestnut Hill, PA on April 19, 1930 to Lewis M. Stevens, Esq. and Elizabeth Morgan Stevens. She graduated in 1948 from Germantown Friends School and attended Centenary College. She spent summers as a child and as an adult at the family summer home in Clinton, CT where she learned to sail by crewing for her brother John. Terri was a lively extrovert who made friends easily, some friendships lasting over 50 years, including members of her tennis group, The Junior League, her investment club, Antiques Study Group, Merion Cricket Club, Merion Golf Club, Riomar Golf Club, and John's Island Club. She had the ability to entertain people and to make them happy. She was beautiful, fun, energetic and stylish. She loved parties, spending time with her family in Stone Harbor and any and all activities taking place at Princeton University. Terri bore the burdens of her illness with grace, stoicism and an admirable perseverance in the face of its challenges. She was lovingly attended by her devoted husband, the remarkable Waverly Care companions, her daughters, sons-in-law and grandchildren. Terri is survived by her husband William Flammer, her 3 siblings, John F.A. Stevens of Newtown Square, PA, Holly Stevens of Santa Rosa, CA, and Lauren Stevens of Williamstown, MA, her daughters Hollie Holt and Leigh Middleton, and 3 grandchildren, Morgan Holt and Frances Baird and John Powers Middleton. Her first husband, John M. Powers, Jr. died in 1996. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Terri can be made to The Wetlands Institute, 1075 Stone Harbor Blvd, Stone Harbor, NJ 08247. A celebration of her life will be held at a future date. Stuard Funeral Home
