Thomas Cobb Obituary

Thomas Drew Cobb of Newtown Square, Pa. formerly of Villanova, Pa. passed away on October 12, 2023, after a lengthy illness. He was 59 years old. He is the beloved son of Dr. James L. and the late Phyllis Ray (nee Dawson) Cobb, who also passed away on October 12, 2023. Thomas is the brother of Colonel James D. (Clare) Cobb, USAF, ret. He is the uncle of James (Geraldine), and Ryan (Leela) Cobb and the great uncle of Lilly, Hayden, Stella, Jack, and Archy Cobb. Thomas was born in Philadelphia, Pa. on March 9, 1964. He is a graduate of Radnor High School, received his undergraduate from Boston University and his MBA from Suffolk University. Tom had broad experience internationally in commercial building and insurance. Tom was well known for his many marathons both in the United States and abroad. In addition to his daily runs, Tom ran with Achilles International, a global organization that transforms the lives of people with disabilities through running and providing race opportunities. Tom successfully summited Mt. Kilimanjaro with a group of physically challenged climbers. He was a car enthusiast, as well. Tom had a deep love for animals. His miniature Dachshund was his constant companion. Tom was a great friend to many; a dedicated son and he will be sorely missed. For years, he suffered in silence, even to his closest friends. We will never again see his like. I met Tommy well after high school when his brother and some friends and I began to run together on a regular basis. He was an inspiration for his tenacity as much as he was for his beautiful and gentle soul. He was a fierce competitor, yet one of the sweetest, kindest persons I have known. I hope he is running free with a smile on his face somewhere in this universe and receives the love and kindness that he so easily gave to others. #Bashers4life
