Buryl Attaway Obituary

Buryl Odell Attaway has been called to Glory and is in the presence of his Lord. He was surrounded by the ones he loved the most.
Buryl was born on January 23,1939 to R.H. and Carrie Lou Attaway. This union brought six children and a legacy of hard work and to the Primitive Baptist Faith. He traveled many miles with his parents and then his own family going to church meetings across the country.
He joined Sardis Primitive Baptist Church when he was 24, and held many positions including church clerk, treasurer, song leader and his favorite, deacon of 56 years.
Buryl loved deer hunting and was a founding member of Old Field Hunting Club and a member for over 50 years. He made lifelong friends and memories, pulling many pranks and taught many life lessons to his son, Bo and granddaughter Nila on the deer stand. Driving lessons were taught on the back roads of the deer lease.
Buryl was one of the founding members of the South Malvern Fire department and later served as president of the fire board along with many other positions in his time there. He was a Machinist at Alcoa where he did not miss a day for 38 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Tilson Attaway, sister Cloteen Attaway Carroll and granddaughter Samantha Jackson.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Guyanna Marsh Attaway, daughter Robin Attaway Jackson and husband, Tommy, son, Brian "Bo" Attaway and wife Carla, 3 sisters, Treva Cunningham, Sandy Issacs and husband Jim, and Cherrell Bell, and husband Bill.
