Charles Farr Obituary

Charles Hampton Farr, age 73, peacefully passed away on January 15, 2025 in Jacksonville, Florida. He was born on May 24, 1951 to Ruby Louise (Walton) Farr and George Raymond Farr.
After graduating from Malvern High School in 1969, he attended the University of Arkansas. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1971-1975 as an Arabic translator with the rank of Petty Officer 2nd Class in Rota, Spain. Upon military discharge, he attended medical school at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock and became a Doctor of Family Medicine.
He lived most of his life in Florida and married Mary Henry Summers in 1992. Together, they built and enjoyed living on Horse Creek Farm. Charlie was a Master Naturalist and could often be seen on a "walk about" educating others about their farm. He volunteered weekly with Dining with Dignity and with Wildflower Healthcare for the underserved population of St. Augustine, Florida. Charlie was a founding member of the North Florida Prescribed Burn Association where he served as Vice President and President.
He is known for his gentle compassion for others, love of music, reading, architecture, Arkansas Razorback football, practical jokes, running, biking, travel, and sharing time with family and friends. After retirement, Charlie and Mary fulfilled their dream of living in Westport, Ireland. He quickly made friends and continued his desire to give back by volunteering as a medic for the local Gaelic Football teams.
Charlie was loved greatly and will be extremely missed. He is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Mary Farr, daughter, Carrie Anne (Farr) Johnson, sister, Cindy (Farr) Warren (spouse Jim), nephews, Jeffrey Paul Warren and Jason Farr Warren (spouse Jeanne), and grandnephew, Logan Freeman Warren. There will be a private celebration of life in Clarksville, Arkansas.
Charlie's outlook on life could be summed by the "Happy Trails" lyric, "Happy trails to you until we meet again. Happy trails to you, keep smilin' until then." (Roy Rogers and Dale Evans).

Charlie Farr was a fine friend of me and my whole family. We met through his wife, Mary, and shared our family´s (husband, wife, and two daughters) love of horses. Mary taught me and our daughters to ride and handle horses and we had many super fun hours of riding with her and her horse Parcheesi. We will miss Charlie so much and miss his wry sense of humor. He and Mary are truly part of our family. Our love to you both!
