George J. Ohlweiler of Dorset, VT passed away July 28, 2021 at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center after a courageous battle against cancer. George was born October 17, 1949 in Worcester, MA, son of the late Harold Ohlweiler of New York, NY and Lelette (Delguste) Hurlbutt of Ciney, Belgium. He is survived by his wife Ruth (Campbell) of Revere, MA, brothers and relatives, Peter Ohlweiler of Brandon, VT, Dennis Ohlweiler of St. Simons Island, Georgia and Donald Hurlbutt and wife Sharon of Salisbury, CT and many Cousins from Knoxville to Nashville and many nieces and nephews from New York to Tennessee to the Carolinas. He is predeceased by his father, mother and step-sister Daphne (Hurlbutt) Barna and stepfather Bill Hurlbutt. George attended Bridgeport University where he studied business and economics. He loved sailing, golf and automobiles in every fashion. An avid staff member for the late Manchester Antique and Classic Car show and Past President of the Green Mountain BMWCCA Chapter. There was the more serious side of George who was active with the Manchester Chamber of Commerce, Manchester Lion's Club and the East Granby CT Chamber of Commerce, where he was honored many times for the work he did with the Jaycees and the junior members of the Chamber. George moved to VT from the Boston area in 2001 and continued in the automotive industry in which he spent 40 plus years of his working career.

I just Googled George's name and am very sad to see that he died 2 years ago. He and I were best friends in high school, we had such good times tooling around in his maroon stick-shift Chevrolet Corvair, going into downtown New Haven and surrounding towns. His mother and step-father, Lelette and "Uncle Bill", were also wonderfull people, like a second set of parents to me. I last saw George at our 50 year high school reunion in 2017, and, except for the facial hair, he still looked just like the buddy I remembered from school. My (belated) condolences to Ruth and George's extended family, these are the times that I wish we could turn back the clock for a little while and be together again.

Only had the pleasure of being George´s friend for the last 7 years but he was one of the best friends I´ve ever had. Felt like I knew him my whole life. My condolences to his family.

George was one of the kindest people I have known- always willing to help anyone. He also had a wicked sense of humor that I miss. I share and swap the stories often but they are too priceless to print.

Prayers to George's family. He was such a nice man and always took very good care of me when he worked at Long Trail Auto and it was a pleasure to talk with him when we´d see him at the Dorset Inn.
So sorry for your loss.
