Daniel Clinton Osborn, 68, of Bear Lake, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, July 26, 2025. He was born December 13, 1956, in Manistee, Michigan.
Dan married the love of his life, Twyla Hayes, October 6, 1984, and they celebrated 40 wonderful years of marriage. Dan was the proud father of three sons and is survived by son, Clinton with Kristy Rineer Merrill, son, Lance and wife, Jillian, and son, Nicholas. He is also survived by siblings, David (Leslie), Donna Merriman, Debbie Berryhill, Deanna (Al) Pattison, Darla (Duane) Jones, Darlyn (Kolon) Moore; and brothers-in-law, Doug Jacobs, Greg Hayes, Dale Hayes and Scott Hayes; and many cherished nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by: his parents, Earl and Dorothy Osborn; sister, Dawn Jacobs; and brother-in-law, Robert Berryhill.
Dan worked in the building trades most of his life and was a Union Carpenter for many years which gave him the skills to fulfill his lifelong dream of building and opening his own Sports Shop. With the help of his family he designed and built his home with the attached Sports Shop and he even split and laid the stone on the front of the building. He was an avid outdoorsman with a love of fishing and hunting. He loved to travel and visited many countries in the Mediterranean while serving in the US Navy. He loved the family trip to Europe, and even went on the adventure of a lifetime to Africa with wife, Twyla, last year.
Dan was a man of strong convictions and always tried to motivate others to be their best. He also had a tender heart and loved his family with all he had. He had the mind of an inventor. He designed and manufactured Osborn's Firecracker String Loop which is a modified Archery D-loop that he sold to many wholesalers and retailers, some in other countries.
Dan also honorably served in the United States Navy from December 1983 to December 1989 aboard the USS Voge 1047 as a machinist mate.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 2, 2025, at Terwilliger Funeral Home, in Kaleva. Family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Interment will take place at Bear Lake Township Cemetery following the service. There will be a luncheon immediately following at the VFW Hall, 13300 9 mile Rd Kaleva, MI 49645.
