Joseph Taraskavage Obituary

Joseph Edward Taraskavage
Bear Lake, Mi
05/24/1965 - 03/28/2025
As I sit on your porch, swinging with the warm sun on my face, I look next to me, and I don't see you. But....I feel you, and it comforts me. Those we love don't go away. They walk beside us every day. Unseen, unheard, but always nearby. So loved, so missed, so very dear. On March 28, 2025, Joseph Edward Taraskavage passed away unexpectedly and far too soon, peacefully leaving this world. Born on May 24, 1965, in Wayne, Michigan, Joe was living in Bear Lake, MI, at the time of his passing. He died doing exactly what he loved- sitting on his porch with a cigar in hand and his loyal dog, Dozer, by his side. The pain and sorrow is unmeasurable for the ones he left behind. He was the son of the late Gervase (Gerve) and Theresa (Mckeown) Taraskavage. He was one of five siblings. Sister, Patricia (Taraskavage) Christensen and husband, Donald, niece, Ellen Pietka, and niece, Anna Danielson and husband, Michael. Sister, Rose Taraskavage; sister, Diane (Taraskavage) Allen, nephew, Sean Allen, and niece, Reilly Allen. Brother to deceased Rob Taraskavage and sister-in-law, Colleen Taraskavage, niece, Janna Copi and husband, Gary, niece, Kelsey Morelli and husband, Andrew, nephew, Steven Taraskavage and wife, Devyn. Also left behind is his Up North family, John and Gwen Judge, Justin and wife, Kacie, Jameson, Payton, Beau Joseph Judge, Kelsey Judge, and Jonah Lee. Not forgetting his whole family at his workplace of 24 years, Blarney Castle Oil Company. And last but not least, all of his Taylor Road neighbors and friends. Joey had one dog, Dozer, and two cats, Rusty and Camo. With the help and commitment of two of his amazing sisters, they will continue their happy journey in life in their new homes. For this, we will be grateful forever. Joe's enjoyment of life, his laughter, and huge heart will forever be missed. Until our paths cross again, may God give us all the comfort knowing he will be with us in unforgettable memories! Forever in our hearts, Joey, We love you, Salute!
A lakeside prayer service will be held at McCarthy's lake property at 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 24th, followed by a celebration of life at the Bear Lake Bar. Arrangements by Jowett Family Funeral Home of Benzonia, MI.
