Lyle Eugene Matteson Jr., age 75 of Arcadia, Michigan, passed away Monday, June 20, 2022, in Manistee.
Lyle was born June 13, 1947, in Dearborn, Michigan to Lyle and Marcella (Grigelis) Matteson. Always learning, he graduated from Roseville High School, Michigan State University and Purdue University with a Master of Science in Entomology. Lyle then found a career working with different bugs as a data base designer for Ernst & Young.
In 1969, Lyle married the love of his life, Linda Diane Hanes. They shared 52 years together. In addition to his love for his wife, he also had quite a love for history, especially the history of Northern Michigan and his family ancestry. Lyle was an integral part of the Arcadia Area Historical Society and Commission, maintaining the website since its inception. He also enjoyed volunteering for the Arcadia Lions Club as well as the Manistee County Stream Monitoring Program. Never idle, Lyle also loved playing golf, pickleball, euchre and sharing his love of nature, fishing, and bugs with all.
Lyle is remembered and missed by his wife Linda; brother Michael (Roxanne) Matteson of Arcadia; Sister Deborah (Roger) Strye of Roseville; nephews Kevin Matteson of Chicago, Roger (Elizabeth) Strye Jr. of Grosse Pointe; Rory Strye and daughter Evangeline of Hazel Park, Robert (Patricia) Strye and son Benjamin of Metamora; nieces Katie (Scott) Campana of Chicago and their children Ford and Daisy and Rachel (Christopher) Lopiccolo of Lake Orion. He was preceded in death by his parents Lyle and Marcella.

I am so sorry. Lyle was a very kind person and hard worker. Both of us worked with him at Comshare years ago. He taught me how to golf and was very patient and didn't laugh when I broke 100 for 18 holes.
