Richard E. Lindeman, 86, of Manistee, Michigan passed away on Tuesday, August 10, 2021 at his home.

Dick was born April 6, 1935 in Stronach, MI, to Harry and Agnes (Moser) Lindeman. He graduated from Manistee High School in 1953, where he played football and baseball. After earning All-State honors in football, Dick went on to play football at Western Michigan University. He also served in the U.S. Army with the 82nd Airborne as a jumpmaster and medic.

Dick received his Education degree from Western Michigan University, and completed his Master's Degree at WMU also. In 1963, he returned to Manistee to teach Physical Education and various shop classes for 33 years, Driver's Education for 44 years, and coached football for 24 years.

Dick enjoyed watching football, especially the Michigan Wolverines. He entered many car and motorcycle shows winning awards for his 1989 Buick Reatta and his 1996 Harley-Davidson. He always enjoyed dogs, and could be seen taking his for their daily walks. He was a devoted husband, father, relative and friend of many.

In Manistee on July 16, 1955, he married Marilyn Nelsen, who survives. Also surviving are his children, Laurie Lindeman-Shook (Randy) of Argyle, TX, Paul Lindeman (Karen) of LaPorte, IN, and Jill Lindeman of Osceola, IN; and three grandchildren: Stephanie Lindeman of Indianapolis, IN, Andrew Lindeman (Emma) of LaPorte, IN, and Jessica Shook of Argyle, TX. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Sally Lindeman.

A time of visitation will be held from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm on Saturday, September 18, 2021, at the Herbert Funeral Home, 706 Kosciusko St, Manistee, until the time of a Celebration of Life Service at 3pm, with Pastor John Scott, presiding. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery where graveside Military Honors will be given by the members of the Manistee County United Veterans Council Ritual Team.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Richard Lindeman's name to Manistee County Humane Society at 736 Paws Trail, Manistee, MI 49660, American Legion Post 10 at 10 Mason St., Manistee, MI 49660 or the Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association Chapter 35-7 Inc., 2702 Filer City Road, Manistee, MI 49660.
