David Converse Obituary

David J. "Shoe" Converse

MANSFIELD: David J. "Shoe" Converse, 53, of Mansfield, passed away Thursday afternoon, October 28, 2010 at Hospice House in Ashland surrounded by family and friends.

Born February 19, 1957 in Mansfield, he was the son of the late John F. and Theresa Mae "Tess" (Schisler) Converse. He was a member of St. Timothy Lutheran Church. David enjoyed restoring cars and mini bikes and nature photography and could always be found tinkering in his "Man Cave". Active with Lifeline of Ohio, David gave many speeches on organ donation awareness throughout the state. He retired as a mechanic and fleet supervisor at Ashland University.

He is survived by his wife, Sheryl K. (Perkins) Converse; children, Christine E. (Chris) Pichler of Columbus, John D. Converse of Columbus; stepchildren, Franz J. Konczak of Mansfield, and Jessica K. Konczak of Mansfield; sisters, Pat (Ken) Bender of Ontario, and Phyllis Converse of Columbus; sisters-in-law, Kim Perkins of MI, Sue (Jack) Hogan of WY; brother-in-law, Steve (Ginny) Perkins of Shelby; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Lawrence (Barbara) Perkins of Ontario; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister and brother-in-law, Karen and Glen Cummings.

Friends may visit from 1-5 p.m. Sunday, October 31, 2010 at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Road. Funeral services will be Monday at 11:00 a.m. in St. Timothy Lutheran Church, 1262 Ashland Road, with Pastor Bonnie Peltomaa officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of North Central Ohio, Crestwood Care Center Communicare Care Team Fund Attn: Jenny Niese or become an organ donor in David's honor. Online guest registry at www.wappner.com
