Ione Wilma Vigesaa

MANSFIELD: Ione Wilma Vigesaa, beloved mother and grandmother, passed away Wednesday, October 16, 2013 at Wedgewood Estates. She was 92 years of age. She was born on May 7, 1921 in Jamestown, ND to Ernest and Mary (Scott) Liebenow. She graduated from Edmond High School in 1938 and went on to receive a teaching degree from Valley City State College in Valley City, ND. She was married on July 9, 1942, to Norman Vigesaa, who preceded her in death on July 19, 2007. She was a Godly woman who spent most of her life as a homemaker on a dairy farm in Courtney, ND. After raising her children, she was an elementary school teacher and principal in Wimbledon, ND. She was a member of a Non Denominational Christian Church.

She is survived by a daughter, Dixie Miller of New Effington, SD; son and daughter-in-law, Gregory and Susan Vigesaa of Mansfield; daughter-in-law, Mary Vigesaa of Altamont, Il; son-in-law, Russ Godijohn of Tappan, ND; seven grandchildren and their spouses, Valarie (Michael) Villifane, Connie (Michael) Barnell, Brad (Megan) Miller, Kent (Heather) Miller, Scott Godijohn, Thomas and Sara Vigesaa; three great grandchildren, Shannon and Heather Barnell and Soren Villifane; a sister, Alice Geroux of Minn, MN; a brother, Ernest (Stella) Liebenow of Livingston, MT; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Veronica Godijohn; a son, Robert Vigesaa; a sister, Elsie Liebenow; a brother, Clarence Liebenow; and a son-in-law, Darryl Miller.

Friends may call from 3-5 p.m. Sunday, October 20, 2013 at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Road, Ontario. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, October 21, 2013 at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to MedCentral Hospice.
