Tim Harvey Obituary

Paul T. "Tim" Harvey

MANSFIELD: Paul T. "Tim" Harvey, 64, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Saturday afternoon December 5, 2015 at Hospice of North Central Ohio, Ashland surrounded by his family. Tim was born June 6, 1951 in Mansfield and was the son of the late James and Edna Margaret (Osborne) Harvey. He attended New Hope School and worked at New Hope Industries. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, was loved by all, and will be missed by many. He was a member of Mansfield Baptist Temple and always looked forward to attending church. Tim's salvation and faithfulness to the Lord was most important to him. Tim enjoyed singing and listening to gospel music.

Left to cherish his memory are three brothers, Bernard (Caroline) Harvey, Joe (Linda) Harvey, and Dave (Sharon Detterman) Harvey, all of Mansfield; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Annabelle Harvey, and six brothers, James, Richard, Robert, William, Clifford and Donald Harvey.

Tim was in the care of Mickie's Creative Options, and the Harvey Family would like to express their deepest appreciation and gratitude for the care and love they have provided for Tim throughout the many years.

Family and friends may call Tuesday, December 8, from 11:00am until 1:00pm in Mansfield Baptist Temple, where funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm with Pastor Robert Kurtz and Tim's brother Bernard Harvey officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Lucas. Memorial contributions may be given to Temple Christian School, 752 Stewart Road North, Mansfield, Ohio 44905. The LINDSEY FUNERAL HOME, LOUDONVILLE is honored to be assisting the Harvey Family with arrangements. Online condolences may be sent to the family by visiting www.Byerly-Lindsey.com.

Dinxy had a favorite saying...anytime you asked him (teasingly) for money, he would reply, "Don't hold your breff (breath)!" I will never forget that as long as I live!

What a day that will be...when we all get to heaven!

I can not conceive of Tim being gone. He was a constant at Mansfield Baptist Temple along time before I got there. No pastor ever had a more faithful or supportive church member. No matter how discouraging things might be you could always count on Tim to bring a smile to your face. I can still see him setting on that second row to my left and when he thought it was time for the service to be over stretching out his harm so he could see the watch on his wrist! I knew it was time to start wrapping things up. Some might wonder what real quality of life he might have had...that would only be people that knew of his limitations but did not know him! Tim was a blessing and encouragement to people all over this country. Once in an educators convention Dr. Buzz Baker was giving an illustration of a young man in Mansfield Ohio who had come forward to offer his life to serve God. Dr. Baker mentioned his disability but used his willingness to challenge those who were "normal" to give their all to serve God. After the meeting I went to him and asked the name of that young man and he said "Tim Harvey and I have used that illustration all over the country." Tim had a ministry far beyond just the reach of his own community. I could talk for a long time about Tim stories but we will do that together some day in heaven. There is still a picture of Tim in my Bible. Since Tim and I were born in the same year I started doing it to remind myself how blessed I have been. However, after watching Tim for awhile I began to realize Tim had no pressure or stress on him, no one giving him a hard time and it became apparent that he really got the better end of the deal!! Now the picture is in my Bible to just remind me of a true friend. I wish it were possible to be there for his service...but be assured we will never forget Tim Harvey.

Oh Tim.. came to countless get together's at Ron's shop for the holidays. He loved eating & taking home leftovers that dad made sure that mom give him plenty to take home. He would have his "fanny pack" belted around his waist. We would ask how much money you have in there Tim and his comment always was the same with his head tilted towards the side he would say "Don't you worry about it! & pat that pack as if he had a million bucks in it" and give his ol'chuckle as he always did. RIP Tim

Dinxy or Dinxie as he was known, was the most original Harvey character of them all. With his uncanny wit and outrageous laugh, there will never be another like him. Here's an example of how Uncle Tim saw life: Shake a Puddin' was a snack craze in the 60s and their tag line was, "What a crazy way to make a snack!" Tim's unique take on that? "Ka-razy make a snack!" And he exclaimed it with a finger wag before we even knew what that was.

Dinxy is now "sing(ing) and shout(ing) the victory!" in the presence of his and our precious Lord with all his family on the "other" side of the Jordan...can't wait to see him someday!
