Claudia Gilboy

1921 - 2015

Claudia Gilboy Claudia peacefully passed in her home of 67 years on July 10, 2015. Born June 11, 1921, raised in Los Angeles, she met Tom Gilboy when obtaining her commercial pilot's license in Reno. Claudia was an artist, bowler, tennis player, hiker, sailor, golfer, motorcyclist, tap dancer, harmonica player, canoeist, prolific jewelry maker and world traveler. She was an inspiration to all who knew her - an amazing 94 years. While raising five daughters in Kentfield, Claudia was active as Kent School PTA Pres., Bluebird and Camp Fire leader and swim Instructor for most of the Kentfield 1950s kids, Red Cross Water Safety Chair organizing all Marin swim programs, director of the Aquacade fundraiser at the Kent Estate, Kent School May Day chair, and member of Sunnyhills and Arequipa, Ross Valley Players, Women Bowlers Association and involved in many youth programs. Later Claudia earned an AA degree at COM, entered the Nursing program and took many art classes. She loved to paint, sculpt, weave, knit, sew, needlepoint, tie-dye, upholster, photograph, cake decorate, and do lapidary, mosaics, stained glass, prints and ceramics. Claudia bowled twice a week until her death and enjoyed her Weaver's group. Survived by daughters Cherilyn, Marion, Gayle, Nancy and Laura; grandchildren Nick Haven, Monica, Kristin, Zachary, Sara, Bryan, Nils and Rorik Strindberg, Camille and Stewart Permar; and eight great grandchildren. There will be no services at her request.
