David Randolph Obituary

David was raised and graduated from high school in Cheyenne Wyoming in 1956. In 1964 he received a Master's in Speech and Communication from San Francisco State University and joined the faculty teaching Radio, Television and Communications. In 1963 he bought his first home in Marin County, California. In 1967 he married is soulmate, Angelika. In 1971 they welcomed their first daughter Melissa, opened Far Roads Travel and established a Travel Agent, Travel Study and Meeting Planning Certificate Program at multiple California State Universities. In 1972 David helped pioneer Marin Waldorf School and served as the first board president. In 1977 they welcomed their second daughter, Kosima. David presented on behalf of the American Association of Travel Agents in over 55 countries during his long career and was commissioned by this organization to foster tourism in Iraq six months before Operation Desert Storm. The US Military granted him General status to create travel agencies on American military bases in Germany. In 1990 David ran for Supervisor in Marin County and served as board president for Marin Civic Light Opera, Marin Taxpayers Association and Marin Coalition. David spent many joyous hours participating in the lives of his four grandchildren. In his later years he dedicated time to family and numerous volunteering in organizations including Respecting our Elders, the San Francisco Opera and the Marin County Fair. David is survived by his loving family: Angelika Randolph, his wife of 55 years, daughters Melissa Wood and Kosima Grundy, sons-in-law Dathan Wood and Brandon Grundy, and four grandchildren Abbigail and Justin Grundy, and Helena and Cosette Wood. Join us to share your stories of remembrance on Saturday July 22, 2023, from 2:00-4:00, at the Marin Waldorf School, 755 Idlyberry Road, San Rafael, CA 94903.
