Diana Nay Obituary

Diana was raised and lived in San Rafael, CA. Diana received her Bachelor's degree from Sonoma State University and enjoyed a lifelong career in Office Management. She spent 5 years working at CSAA, 13 years working at Fair Isaac Corporation and most favorably 15 years working in education at the Marin County Office of Education (MCOE) and at the Larkspur-Corte Madera School District (LCMSD). The students at The Cove School brought happiness to her work. She retired on July 25, 2023 from LCMSD.Diana was always the life of the party. She was never one to miss a good time with friends and family. Camping, boating, traveling, snow boarding, kayaking, mountain biking and weekend barbecues were among the list of activities Diana enjoyed together with Bob, friends and family. She loved heavy metal music and attended many concerts where back in the day you'd often find her in the mosh pit. She appreciated art, especially her children's masterpieces which she proudly displayed throughout her house. She enjoyed spending time in her yard planting and watering, with her loyal dog Peaches by her side. Her children were her main purpose in life, whom she devoted most of her time and energy. There is nothing she wouldn't do for Robert and Frankie. They were and will always be her pride and joy.Diana died of metastatic breast cancer. She is preceded in death by her son, Anthony Nay and is survived by her husband Bob Nay, sons Robert and Frankie Nay, parents Mary and Frank Bertolli, her three sisters Laura Bertolli, Janis Garrigus (Dave) and Linda Tarantino (John) and many other members of her large family in both the US and Italy.Funeral Service at St. Isabella's Church, 1 Trinity Way, San Rafael on Wednesday August 2nd at 11:00 am.Private inurnment. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude.

Diana had the most beautiful smile, a genuinely vibrant and contagious expression of happiness! She was always smiling and so proud of Robert and Frankie (and rightly so). As our kids matured we grew a little more distant from the birthday parties and our little circle of mutual friends, but we have such good memories of a shared trip to Arizona and the many dinner parties and milestones celebrated with the kids. It´s only today that we learned of Diana´s passing from a neighbor and words can´t express our sadness. We will keep Bob and the boys in our thoughts.

With love from the Nygards (Mette, Aaron, Savanna and Sommer)

Diana and I met in the early eighties and instantly clicked - quickly becoming best friends. We had a deep and special bond and for many years we did everything together. We shared a love of rock music, going to endless concerts, and I’d watch in awe as Diana fearlessly dove into mosh pits and held her own.
Diana was absolutely beautiful - both inside and out. Beneath her tough exterior she was actually really sensitive, introspective, very intelligent and would often write poems.

I admired her unshakable self assuredness, inner strength and her no apologies zest for life and living it to the fullest. Diana was a bright light with an energy that drew you to her, was incredibly creative and always gave of herself generously. I deeply regret allowing us to slowly drift apart apart, and had just looked her up on the internet hoping to reconnect after moving back to Marinwood - only to be shocked and deeply saddened by her recent passing.

But knowing Di, she’d flash her wide effortless perfect smile that lit up her whole face, admonishing, then reminding me, how she wants nothing more than to focus on the good times and what’s positive”

.all the happiness she experienced, especially her marriage to Rob and their children, and her reunion with their son.

I was lucky to have so many great times and fun adventures along side her, with countless memories that make me smile.

I am heart broken to hear that Diana has passed away. I have so many memories of fun times we had. Snowboarding trips to Tahoe, camping trips at Clear Lake, Reggae on the River, and many fun times at her condo. I remember the day she and Bob were married very well. The best thing about Diana was her smile and her infectious laugh. She was always positive and giving to others, and she adored her family. Sending love, healing and peace to Bob, her sons, and the Bertolli family. I will miss your sweet smile beautiful Diana.

Hi, I am her Mom's cousin Barry and my wife Pam. After moving away from the Bay area in the early 1970's, we were part of Diana's life from afar. It was great to know of her successes. We also were aware of her the great work her and Bob did raising the two boys after the death of Anthony. Although she was no stranger to having fun, she did all that even though facing many challenges.
Memorable has always been her smile and her quick wit with her Dad, Frank. Now there was one heck of a relationship.

The loss of Diana is felt far and wide. She has left an imprint on many hearts and she will be greatly missed at LCMSD and especially at The Cove School. She fought valiantly to be with the Nay, Bertolli, and Tarantino families. I am so saddened for all of you. Among others, she was most fortunate to have her sister, Linda, looking after, helping, and guiding her on her journey. May she rest in peace now with her beloved Anthony and the angels.

I loved helping Diana plan her trip to Europe. She was so excited to be able to visit Lourdes. She brought back a bottle of the water from there for Glenn. It is cherished and sits by our bed. Such a truly wonderful girl.
